I disagree, none of my characters have really taken notice of the coin press nor are any planning on using it. They are weary of change because for all their lives they have been bartering without currency, and I find it too much of an OOC factor to use them as currency, maybe for art or name tags, is another matter. Plus, if people do plan on using coins as currency, who is going to back those coins up and make them credible?

I'll be interested to see what effect this will have on Quillanoi. It's one place where there's been a continuous (and somewhat stubborn) dedication to implementing a monetary system. This could mean huge and sudden changes in character interaction... but I very much doubt it.

I will now start to make 52 coin presses and then will shuffle the resulting coins. Who want's to play texas holdem?
Reality was never my strong point.

I'm confused, could you elaborate?

Exactly what it is you're voting on?

*looks for a poll*

Are you talking about the Coins- and that they're going to play a big role?

The coins are going to play a huge role. Sooner or later. Probably later then sooner. If you want me to explain the legistics of the monetary system, I can't. Technicaly, I could, but have no desire to. I learned about it last year. If you want to be educated on the monetary system then look up the history of it and you'll find the benefits. I'm sure there's other people here who can explain it very simply though.

Here's a little fun that will occur to someone sooner or later:

300 iron to painstakingly establish fair and decent commerce in a region and stimulate an economy.

300 iron to counterfit the system and get rich while investing very little.

Coin press here I come!

Right after you make yours.

Money will really only benifit people travelling between towns, since they can bring more things to trade...but that will require that the towns all have the same currency or a system allowing trade between them.

I don't think money will play a big role in Cantr, but it is good that the possibility exists.

The presses will presumably be able to make a different print. They have to. If not, they have to be fixed before made for use. In early day reputable establishments were able to make their own coin which were accepted among traders, along with the banks. They must have their own individual prints.

That indicates to me that each press makes a different print. So no worries there...

Incidentally, a good idea I think. :)
