Breaking down buildings, furniture, vehicles and machines
Well here is an idea...
I think it would be nice if you were able to break down buildings, furniture, vehicles and machines in Cantr. About, say, 70% of the resources which were used on building the construction would be retrieved. This way old buildings, old furniture etcetera which aren't used anymore can be recycled.
Ofcourse this would mean that you can destroy other people's property, but hey, this way we also have vandalism in the game. The breaking down would have to be a project taking several days so the owner or the police or whatever can stop the villain.
In this prospect it would also be a necessity to be able to repair buildings, furniture, vehicles and machines. Well, this is also being worked on for tools so this could be the next thing implemented in Cantr.
So?
What do you think?

Obviously, everyone should see:
999-9: You see a man breaking down a bike.
Or something like that, so everyone knows, without having to check. Also, unless the project is really long, which it should be, especially for houses, a guy with an iron shield might be able to hold out until the building is destroyed.... and then die. Like a attack... I don't know if that is good or bad, or neither. But that could happen.

Just because you're older, smarter, stronger, more talented... doesn't mean you're BETTER.

I don't know if this fits here but breaking tires with a bone knife would be fun and annoying and sometimes useful. Then it would speed up the adding of garages and bike sheds since it doesn't take long to do the damage. But then repairing should be added too. Basically breaking anything is always quicker than putting it together, never forget that.

I was thinking, I like this idea, but a way to make it so newspawns don't ruin the world:
You have to be indoors to break it down, ie in real life, enter the building, take the roof off, then smash the walls down from the inside out.
This way- no (or not many) vehicles would be destroyed as they come with locks. Also, GOOD homes won't get destroyed because they'll have locks.

Hrm... I'm kind of against this Marian... eek sorry! It just means we should be able to break everything else down as well...

Why can't this be applied to other static objects?
yes i agree there should be a way to destroy things with in the cantr world. I understand that there are many against and they have very valid reasons as to why not but the key one for me for the advent of this civilzations come and civilzations go... they either die of ther own or are destroyed by power and greed.
As for a practical way this can be implemented we should discuss further... It's one thing to just make a suggestion but another to fill in the concept....
I for one would imagine that the system would have to check if there is an object (to include other machines), people, or projects inside the building being destroyed. Should someone enter or put something inside then it cancels the project just like docking is canceled with moving ships.
So one wants to destroy a building s/he must enter the building by destroying the lock remove all of the things inside the building, clear all projects inside the building, destroy all machinery inside the building, ensure all people are out of the building destroy all rooms and then go outside and start to destroy the building itself. Should anyone start a project or go inside the building/machine then your project gets canceled.
to include removing old projects with out enough resources . x amount ofd hours to remove items from the project should someone add or work on the project as to build it then your removal is canceled.

I'd be placated with the ability to destroy machines for now, but ultimately a single unified system for dismantling/destroying everything in game would be better.
I think dismantling from the inside out, as g1asswa1ker suggested, is the easiest way to approach this idea, having to remove everything from a building/vehicle before it can be taken down.
This would mean finishing the projects, or being able to take resources off them and cancel them, which would require another, separate process to be achieveable

Well clearing all of the project and items out the room would take years without a dismantling crew.
What about the incomplete projects made by newspawns who started some random stone extension and just added 1g of stone? Would you be required to finish that off by adding the stone and then later getting it back when you dismantle it? It would still be a huge waste of time.
Sledgehammer .... Speed up the process of destroying a building.
