I use '98, on Internet Explorer, Mozilla or the ISP provided Compuserve browser. That's what you get for 10$ a month. :D

XP Pro, with Firefox. No extra skinning yet; I'll get round to reinstalling a skinning suite soon and then play around more.

*has been deeply irritated with win 98 back home the past month*

but now back with my own computer... just update from fedora core 1 to 3 - I only ever use Win XP to run the (few) games I have that don't work in Linux or using Wine in linux

Win XP is not so bad as the rest - mostly because of the skinning options - which allow you to make it look and feel like windows as little as you like. You still won't pull me away from KDE and Fedora though...

I've been using the Debian distro on my linux box at home but am toying with the idea of switching to Gentoo. It sounds like Gentoo offers more customization. Anybody used both? Prefrences? Would I be wasting my time switching distros?

Gentoo is only worth it if

a) you have a very specialised, or very old computer and need very detailed customisation

b) you have a weekend free (takes an average of 24hrs to compile)

and

c) you are knowledgeable enough to actually know what the hell you're doing (unlike me)

also - from my point of view, those who have gentoo are no better because 'ooh.. lookie what I did, I compiled my own kernel... i'm going to show off, just by saying I use gentoo...' - it just makes me want to slap them...

with a fish...

a wet one...

that really smells

Anyway... If Debian is working ok for you, I'd say keep it - if you're going to change - I'd have to say Fedora, it's always been the most stable in my experience, and the community support aspect means that someone, somewhere, has probably already worked out how to do that really obscure thing that no one would ever need...
