I've done a lot of roleplay of various types, and I enjoy them each for various reasons.
In some ways I enjoy Live Role Play best, because you get completely immersed in what's going, and the detail level is fantastic - you can't do facial expressions etc in quite the same way in any setting other than face to face.
Tabletop is less hard work (at least in terms of having to deal with props and costume) and often less intense, which is either good or bad, depending what I'm looking for. The lower requirements mean I get to do it more often than Live Role Play, and that's definitely good. There's also a lot of things you can do in tabletop that you can't in LRP - like have a 100' dragon attack from the sky!
Cantr is different again, because it doesn't require you to organise meeting others to play with - it's just always there. I also like the fact that all the game mechanics are done for you, and you never have to worry about them. It makes it seamless, instead of having to interrupt the conversation flow for die rolls or shouts of "Sharp! Sharp! Blunt! Fireball!" or whatever.
I wouldn't say Cantr is the best game I've ever played, but it's certainly one of the best. I think it says a lot about it that I think of it in terms of roleplay, rather than online gaming.

In table top games so much depends on the gamemaster, now when I got a chance to play, all the players were practically newbies, I was the most experienced there and that only meant I had been hogging manuals and reading articles about roleplayers. But the gamemaster was amazing, sometimes when he played an NPC I would forget about the room and everything and it was like he had changed into that person he was playing... Of course we had a lot of fun, for example often when someone missed with a bow in the forest they would accidentally shoot down a crow, and it went "croaak!" when it died!
Then we saw a monk fishing and some of us wanted to try too, one got a tiny fish and said "hmph" disappointedly, then GM said that a big fish jumped to swallow the little fish so they caught a big one instead! And there was a little dragon in a bottle circling, *draws an 8 in the air*, when there was a fight the bottle shattered and it had been only an illusion...
And my friend's charrie always got tiny wounds so that her clothes were slashed and we joked about how the gamemaster wanted to see her stripped
- almost all the players were girls, there were a couple of guys but they wouldn't show up every time. Oh, and the first thing I asked is if our charries could get pregnant, mine was looking with interest at this one elf but then he got lost in the woods... :S The good old times...

That Cantr actually is compared to legendary games like civilization etc. is really something Jos and the rest of the people behind Cantr should be very proud about.
Cantr is a wonderful game, no doubt about it. The complaints about certain features are simply ways to try to make this great game even better...and I'm sure the Cantr staff takes it this way.

Eat the invisible food, Industrialist...it's delicious!

Actually, no.
When someone complains the staff members all gather (Select Staff members, I mean.) at a conference in IRC. Someone then rolls 2d20, and if we get a value of 2 then the person that complained has a 'random accident' or 'error' in the game (Which may or may not include... their character being deleted, items dissapearing, walking out of their house - they appear somewhere wrong, undocking they get thrown somewhere else, random damage amount, random tiredness addition, etc.)
We all think complainers are jerks, and we need to punish them any way we can.
So when there's a problem with the game, it's really not a problem, its just us kicking your ass for complaining about something.
Jerks.
