Is this the greatest game that anyone has ever played
Purly out of curiosity, I've been wondering if anyone thinks that there are any games that are better than cantr
I've been playing Cantr for nearly 2 years now and honestly I havn't been able to find another game that you can interact with your environment more than this one
Now all beat at the moment I'm still trying to get used to the new changes as my old account was cancled due to inactivity before these new changes were implemented

The weekend that Cantr was down I spent on a quest for other games like it. Found only one attempt at what looked somewhat like an alternative Cantr. Very highbrow, even quoted postmodernist authors on the front page and went into how online rpg could become an alternative form of postmodernist literature, etc, etc. Clearly it was too highbrow. When I logged in I found myself in the company of precisely four AI bots!
No, I simply haven't found anything at all like Cantr that works.

To be honest I am a bit of a free online game whore. I have searched time and time again for good games, yet I have never found anything like Cantr.
There are some games that share certain individual aspects of Cantr, but nothing at all that plays like Cantr. I have mentioned else where what games I play/ have played. Injustice and Kingdom of loathing are probably the highest on that list.
Bottom line: There is no substitute for a good Cantr.
EDIT:hore->whore

Whore? Or Horse? Either way, you're missing a letter.
There's always a substitute for Cantr.
VIRTUAL REALITY.
One day in the future, I'm sure we'll be able to jack-in to a Cantr IV server of sorts, log into one of our 15 characters, and be able to visually see and do everything by ourselves.
That would be so cool. Log in, all of a sudden you're in a body that's crafting a boat. You continue to craft the boat, while you talk to those around you... much like... LIFE... but without the world like it is today. It's so hard to do what you want today, with so many options. But VIRTUAL REALITY CANTR IV would be SWEET.
JOSSS!!! INVEST IN VIRUAL REALITY!!
(Plus, think of the sex you could have in Virtual Reality. Oh yeah, realistic to the pixelated public hairs. Rwar.)

Cantr is not a game. It's a life. Or a bunch of lives, actually. Nothing could be compared to a thing larger than life. But like life, it can sometimes be hard and painful. With Cantr you can experience a whole variety of feelings. There are many great games but their strenght lies in other aspects. For example we all know Cantr mechanics are clumsy and the graphical side is poor, but we close our eyes from all that and concentrate on... now what is it that creates the charm? For me it's mostly rp, character interaction, added with a chance to gain something solid. You know every item comes from someone's hard work, you don't just walk into a store and say one sword please, someone gotta dig up that hematite and do all the processing and forging to create the object.

Cantr is without doubt the best text-based game I have ever played, but to be honest I have enjoyed bought games like Civilization, Jagged Alliance 2 and Silent Storm more...or at least differently. But I don't really see a need to compare games like Cantr to visual strategy games for example.
Eat the invisible food, Industrialist...it's delicious!

i play four online games total: RomanDuels, Utopia, Earth: 2025, and Cantr.
the other three not-Cantr games are totally different in that you play to be the biggest, baddest, province/country/gladiator. my favorite online game is Utopia.
is Cantr a game? no. to me a game is where you, like in Utopia, can crush everyone. you can do that in Cantr, but it takes a lot longer. this is why i don't play Cantr for the combat. Cantr is by FAR the best text 'game' on the Internet because you can play it however you want to. all you need is the time and the dedication. a few tweaks here and there, and Cantr would be the perfect online... thing.

CD: Anthony, I have told you before this is a FAMILY-FRIENDLY forum, at least in theory... Plus, you spelt pubic wrong... =P
I've not found a better game online. I've played various online games over time, but all have been given up quite quickly. This hasn't. I've been here almsot a year.
However, if I want to play something for more than just a few minutes every now and then, I tend to go for something more graphical, and perhaps competitively multiplayer.
