Anyway, I think we can all agree that the technology levels in Cantr are weird. But I suppose it gives it a unique quality.

I don't like that a bow I have barely used at all is now marked as "used".
This feels very fast...

There should be a notable difference in deterioration depending on how much you use the item.

Yes it does riddrev, it makes the game kind of funny.

Though it influences people's expectations. You want the best; a crossbow or something. Yet you can't, because you do not have the means or the contacts.

But also the amounts are rather strange. (And amounts take time.) You go and collect wood with an axe. Which means you're probably taking down complete trees. And the wood you get for a day isn't that much as the weigh of just one tree.

You just have to remember, we're just playing a game. And the game is fun. (Or atleast addictive.)
Not that good.

It has been mentioned before that Cantrians are just really small.

And, yes, although the game is less then perfect, it is more than fun. :D

How much you use a bow isn't as much a factor as what it's made out of.

I still refuse to call it Item deterioration, becasue it's still item rot.
Reality was never my strong point.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH! My axe is now only new! The steel has begun to deteriorate... I'm getting a little scared now.

Yeah. And on the note of bows... despite the use problem, I still think it's a bit... iffy. My old war bows are used now! They were pretty expensive. Even now that you don't need iron, it's still a lot of wood and tools.

If you think that a war bow is expensive, what about the 'used crossbow'? How much work and materials go into those things? They should last forever!

The crossbows are used already? Ouch. Is there any way yet to REPAIR things? Or regain energy quicker, for that matter.

I have 3 characters who depend on crossbows, and all of theirs are 'used'- in most cases a lie in the description itself.

I really think that they should've programmed repair capabilities before buggin' ol' rottage.

The bows are at a stark and unfair disadvantage to the blades, and it frightens me because bows should provide a considerable lessening of reliance on iron, due to bowstring manufacturing, but it doesn't pay off -now-.

Especially when nearly all blade weapons are still brand new.

Of course, I could wait till weapons ranging is implemented, but can't there be some sort of quick fix-whether extending lifespan of bows/bumping up their damage [my suggestion is pausing item rottage until the repair technologies are implemented, and think about still expanding the lifespan nonetheless] ...and then later getting rid of the bandaid affect when ranged weapons are equal in the battlefield thanks to range implementations?

I think a big problem is that the item deterioration is set after RL conditions (like the amount of years a bow could hold out), but the production rates are very much lower.

A professional bow maker could probably spit out hundreds, if not thousands, of bows every year IRL. Then it wouldn't matter that much if they broke after a couple of years...

yeah, I agree! The item rot on bows is evil, its already USED, and by the time the repair is put in (if ever) we won't have bows anymore! This is extremely unfair and annoying. We dont even know if the materials will just *poof!* and vanish or be usable.

I think that if this item rot continues, that at least when the bows fall apart, the individual objects should be returned, with perhaps the exception of maybe =one= of the wooden parts and the bowstring, so that the charries would at least have most of the items, and only need to trade a little for the SMALL REMAINING things needed. At least we wouldn't spend our whole charrie's LIVES rebuilding, running around and having tiredness eternally bog us down.

Item rot is an okay and interesting idea, but should have been mapped out WITH the cure/repair so we could've been working before our items turn into useless dust.

And for crying out loud, the iron should =not= deteriorate, because that is a pain in the butt.

Just my input.

Well, I wouldn't object at all to the rate of degredation IF: repair were available and crossbow repair didn't cost an exorbitant amount of iron (some maybe, but considering which parts are setting the breakdown rate and which are setting the cost...).

There may be no problem. None of us knows (or an t least is telling) how deep the list of descriptions goes. We could be only a quarter of the way through the bow life-spans, or 80%. If it's a quarter they have plenty of time to get repair implemented before it becomes critical...if it's 80% we're being brutally oopsed again.

That's the worst reason I've heard for such a thing. Metals not deteriorating would sabotage the point of deterioration and throw yet another huge disadvantage on wood...
