Tiredness is too much!

General out-of-character discussion among players of Cantr II.

Is the current way "tiredness" works simply too much to take?

Yes, I really can't stand it and it's ruining my game.

Tiredness is too much!

Well, then, rather than spamming the poor people who give up their free time for Jos, let's have yet another poll. :D Is the way tiredness is currently implemented simply too much to take? I'm not talking about "ideal" tiredness or how it might work in the future. I'm talking about how it works now.

I'm not sure. I've not had much trouble with it yet. Partly due to being offline and away from cantr for a while.

Ah well. Such is life.

At first I thought I could tolerate it but now I've noticed that even a small amount has a great effect on things, or at least hunting. It's damn annoying, especially when the recovery rate is trivial and cots don't work. Doing 1 point damage with a longbow really makes you feel powerless. Basically if you rest a full day doing nothing you might as well get ALL your strenght back.

I don't like the way it's currently implemented. It's not the tiredness so much as the recovery of tiredness.

In real life, there is no way possible to work hard enough that 3 months of labor (5 cantr days) would DESTROY you so much that you can do ANYTHING for the next YEAR (20 cantr days) but that is all to easy and common in cantr.

I won't start suggesting ways to fix it, I'll leave that to the suggestions thread, but I don't like how it is now.

I agree with Agar...there should be some way to recover from tiredness faster.

I don't mind the tiredness that much now, but I fear that with the (in my view much too fast) item deterioration people will soon have to spend all their active time simply rebuilding their current tools...

Tiredness is very much a good idea, but right now its far too easy to build up.I have a character who has been able to work on a project for almosta year now, and has still only rocoverd about a third of the strenght they had lost

The tiredness system is awful.
It eliminates the hourly projects that used to be inherently better in favor of projects that give resources every one to two days. However, if you use those, you don't really build up any tiredness. So tiredness is just a pain in the ass and doesn't really do anything useful when dealing with resource harvesting projects.
I don't know if tool projects work the same way, but making knitting needles or needles is almost certain to be the most tiring logic project because it is forced to use a system similar to repeats. That's silly.
Tiredness is really idiotic for warfare. You can hit someone roughly once in 4 days. You hit them for 4 damage. They heal with healing food and hit you for 7 or so damage (remember, your shield was rendered lousy by your poor decision to stike the first blow). This is a "Rocky his face pounded in" situation, where the winner in an otherwise even fight will probably be the one who waits for the other character to tire by letting them attack without retaliating. So the only way to win a fight you initiate is to attack someone weaker? Great. Just... great. Also, if you hit someone and they heal the damage off, if my understanding is correct you can't even catch them.

Hitting people should incur very little tiredness. Being locked in combat is a very tiring thing, yes, but since Cantr has such leisurely fighting, that argument is totally bogus. Also, instant actions should not really cause your character to tire at all.

In essence, tiredness is fundamentally a decent idea that is implemented excruciatingly poorly.

there is no need for tiredness at all in cantr. The limits on violence it creates is the only use and it can be done other ways.

I like tiredness and believe that it is a good concept but I agree the recovery is awful. At least make it so the beds acutally recover tiredness.

I agree with most of the posts in this thread, especially the frustration that things like cots/chairs don't do anything at all. It is hard for me to understand why you can make these things at all when they serve no purpose whatsoever. The tiredness factor is extrememly unrealistic, while just about everything else in game is, as I understand it, as realistic as possible.

I don't have any chars involved in combat since the tiredness was implemented, but it certainly seems to have an adverse affect on hunting. It could possibly be affecting the speed at which work is done, but it could just be me being paranoid.

So, getting tired is reasonable, but the fact that there are all types of furniture items to make, but they do nothing is very frustrating. I mean, what would you do with a cot/bed, besides 'recover tiredness' IRL?
Was it for this my life I sought?
Maybe so, maybe not.

Yeah, many people spend almost as much time in bed awake as they do asleep, if not more...

Reading, talking, attempting to get to sleep, attempting to get up... and other things.

Right, well two-thirds of us believe "tiredness", as currently implemented, is ruining their game, and most of the rest are not especially happy with it. Only 3 out of 40 (7%) are especially happy. Any more votes? :)

As I assume most people know the "tiredness" system was part of the main reason I quit and I won't even consider playing again unless something is done with it, preferably done away with.

I haven't been on Cantr much, so noe of my characters are tired yet, but I've seen the effect it's had on other characters...

I've moaned about this before - I never though it would be a god idea, but so far, it seems to have worked. I was worried that people who couldn't log in much would waste time geting their characters to bed etc, but I've only been abale to log in once a week or so or a while now, and mine have been fine, it seems that it's the more active characters that are getting tired quicker - which makes sense

I say keep it - so ignore my misplaced click on the poll... oops...

The again - give it two weeks and I'll probably hate it...
Whoever you vote for.

The government wins.
