1018 A very sad day:(

Postby Sparkle » Wed Dec 08, 2004 10:10 pm

This day shall be engraved in my memory forever. I have played Cantr off and on since about May of 2001 and now I have lost my first charrie. (I didn't even recieve the email, but had it confirmed) This may not seem like much to those who have lost many, but for someone who has played there characters very carefully and put alot of energy into them it was a success to have all of them still leaving. All 15 of them. Even the theifs, pirates, and murders.

Now that success has come to an end....I feel like a failure and it's sad to say that I owe this great pain and ache in my heart to the new eating/hunger system. I now know how long you can go without eating so I warn those of you that don't know to always carry lots of food on you. Learn from my mistakes. Especially those on water whom are traveling for long periods of time. (Well not very long in my opinion)It hurts the most because I always thought my first char. to die would at least be with some dignity like getting killed or suicide or something. Not like this!

Second, I have never seen so many people quiting and dying IG in all my time playing Cantr!! What is wrong with everybody! Come on. How can you support and play a game for so long and then the first sign of trouble you leave! Yes, I am very hurt right now, but I'll get over it. Life goes on (your life not your poor charrie's) and so will Cantr. It will take all my charries to die before I even think about leaving and then that probably wouldn't stop me either because it's fun making new charries in my opinion. That's why I went from 7 to 15 in 2 days! Now I'm not talking about Missy. She is the only true trooper in the bunch because she atleast still stayed. She still has two charries and put forth her effort to stay. The others I shake my head to you and know one day you will return. (although you say you won't) You won't be able to help it.
If anyone other than Missy falls in the catagory of only losing a few charries then disregard this message.

Me letting my fustration out!

P.S. This was not intended to offend or upset anyone. Just somethings I had to get off my chest.

Don't worry, now you can create a new character to share new experiences with. I too miss playing Easle Quathak and James Whitmore and I believe they would be alive today if my account hadn't deleted them while I was away for summer camp.

I also miss playing the likes of Sester Gartaf Romanov just because it was acutally fun playing the character that everyone hated. :D

Sorry to hear about your char. I've only been playing for a couple of weeks but just had my first character death today. I couldn't help but laugh when I got the email. He was mauled by lions. What a way to go.

Lost my first a while back, but it was bad...

Fortunately, I had someone else (IC) to blame for it  Made it a little less depressing to be able to claim its not my fault.

I almost had one die. He is travelling and ran out of food.
His hunger is at 95% and he is 95% of the way to his destination. :?

I didn't get an email. :( He was just missing, but then it was confirmed that he did indeed die.

I have one who is very, very close to death. Between the animal attacks and the lack of food, his days are numbered.

I don't think he's spoken to anyone, ever. He was created less than 5 days ago.

I am finding that it's a very big struggle just to stay alive in the game, and I can't see it getting much better, now that items will also deteriorate. What, excess items was such a hardship before?

I thought this was supposed to be a slow-paced game, but every time I turn around, I'm being attacked by wild animals (even in a town), or someone near me is. And since it takes about 30% of my energy to hit an animal and do 1-3% damage to it (once per day only, no matter how many there are), I'm really not surprised. The animals have the upper hand in this game.

I also thought this was supposed to be a RP-heavy game, but I gotta be honest-- who has time to role-play when you only get 200 minutes to send a message, 20 minutes of which will be spent waiting for the game to even load?

But I digress. This thread is about the loss of a beloved, long-time character, and so I take my hat off and say "rest in peace."

Yes.....that hunger thing has taken a few by surprise. Although I have not lost one of my own, two of my characters lost their significant others yesterday......one dying of starvation on the road as they travelled together.

It was really lousy knowing that he wasn't going to make it and not being able to hand him any food :(

I think I need a grief support group :P

then the whole town went crazy, well not exactly whole, like 3 people or something.....

Could someone explain the hunger thing?

When the hunger bar goes to 100% you die, right?

Or is that when you start losing health?
Like the beat beat beat of the tom-tom
When the jungle shadows fall
Like the tick tick tock of the stately clock
As it stands against the wall...

damage and hunger are completely seperate. they don't effect each other in any way that i know of.
-you die if your damage meter gets to 100%.
-you die if your hunger meter gets to 100%.
DOOM!

That is 100% true. I'm happy you asked so you won't have to find out the hard way like my charrie did.

we share the same birthday, AND the same experience of having our accounts expiring while at summer camp?

Mine was last summer, but still....

you lost Easle and James, I lost El Adan and Ad Astra.

It's a cruel world.

Oh, I just spawned my first new character in 18 cantr years. I'm bored.
I'm not dead; I'm dormant.
