Recovering from wounds and tiredness

Postby griogal » Wed Dec 01, 2004 9:48 pm

Is it just me or is there some problem with recovery?

My char that got hurt only seem to heal by eating healing food, while they don't seem to recover from tiredness either.

Perhaps there is a certain way to recover?

You must sail to the South West for 47 years. Then you will find the isle of the dodos. Sail North from the isle of dodos for 82 years and you will find a tiny island. The only resource on the island is coffee, which recovers tiredness, but there is always 100+ dragons there.

Good luck.

This is a closely related matter, so I'll put it here too....

If a character is poor with weapons...are they suppossed to be poor with shields too? That is what it appears to be to me from one of my characters that seems to be one of the ones with less weapon skill, he also has less protection skill as well.

I had been recovering from tiredness at 2% twice daily. I haven't watched that recently. That's so slow that you probably wouldn't notice from looking at the bars.

As for damage, I actually think you may not be recovering...one of my characters wasn't last time I could log on.

Okay, I have just been through my first combat experience, and I must say I now see what the tiredness people are talking of.

Here it is, in some detail,

Two thieves stole things simultaneously, one has a wood shield, and the other has no shield (See looks like a duck in CR)
My character gave chase, with full energy and a sabre.

1013 Attack and missed both with a sabre
(2 other people attack them also this day with longbow and sabre)
1014 Attack and hit both with sabre for mediocre damage (13% and 8%)
(1 other person attacks them also this day with longbow)
1015 Attack and missed both with a sabre
(1 other person attacks them also this day with a sabre)

1016 - they arrive at another town, and split up, I follow unshielded one.

1016 Attack one, and hit for 3%, my character is very tired
1017 Attack one, and hit for no damage, my character is 100% tired.

I turn around....they have gotten away.

So after making 8 attacks over five days, I have no energy left, and am incapable of harming an unshielded peasant with my sabre.

Further, after nine attacks on an unshielded character (five from my sabre, two with other character sabres, and two with other characters longbows) the character gets away with 23% strength left.

Now, I am not necessarily complaining...but is this level of tiredness and its effect on the thieving and combat situation the true intention of the programmers?

Well if that situation were realistic, the thief would be crying for mercy far before having only 23% left... So maybe a fear factor should be added too, making characters freeze and wet their pants if they are beated long enough. Also making it possible to take things they're carrying, and dragging them with less effort.

Have a character at .119 damage for days now...it isn't getting any better.

Could we at least know if this is a bug or not?

I was told that the only person that knows about this is Jos. I asked Thomas the other day and he said he doesn't know how the current system works at all and that Jos is the only person who knows because he created. So I'm not sure how often Jos reads this forum but you could try PMing him your problems with the new system.

I've had a character at .119 damage for several days now, and others have seen the same thing.

So this isn't supposed to be the way it is. If it is still that way. Need to check.

You need healing foods to heal damage
