Singin' in Cantr
One of my charries got bored while he was workin' (on charcoal), and so he made a little ditty about charcoal, just out of the blue. Then later, he was bored again, and started singin' about another project.
Do Cantrians know how to sing? I hope they do, 'cause its cool to sing.
Just because you're older, smarter, stronger, more talented... doesn't mean you're BETTER.

I was just thinking about this thing... We lose a lot when not being able to lighten your dull toiling on the fields with a song, or travelling, or marching into the war, or just raising team spirit. Even if we write down the words, and rp the style of singing, it still isn't the same. And if one would tell people ooc to check the melody from another site, someone surely would start bitching about a CR breach. I think that's pretty dull. Well if it was some Britney Spears song or another silly thing then it might matter (besides they are copyrighted) but folk songs would be useful. We need music in Cantr!

Now of course we can make new lyrics... but if one wants to have an actual melody, it has to be taken from an outside source. Storing mp3's or even mids on Cantr server would freeze it in no time.

Oh you can definitely describe the singing to a very fair degree, everything from tone of voice, pitch, maybe even some of the melodic structure, the actual lyrics...just through roleplay. And of course, rp requires a bit of imagination, so why not imagine a bit, eh?

And how is singing not like that?
Cantr players maybe think they miss out on not having songs. Cantr characters most likely don't, unless they've come into contact with songs they enjoyed.
Just RP them. If you want to shorten the lines, use short descriptions like 'speeds up'.

music
I think Cantr does need music, and why should we not write it? I mean, it's about creating societies, right? and what societies do you know that do not have music? And if people put in a bit of effort and wern't stupid when writing the songs, they could be role played not half bad, and it would be fun, so why not?
by the way, nexit and netherspawn, I love your signatures, where did you come up with them?
