Attacking to and from vehicles

Postby ephiroll » Thu Nov 18, 2004 12:47 am

Now it's impossible to attack someone on a vehicle (bike, boat, etc) unless you're on it with them and impossible to attack anyone else from a vehicle unless they're on it with you or you get off.

Yes, as well as talking to and fro, I have problems with: but Spider shot me down about it. I do have that problem, and so do quite a few others, it seems:

I bet they're related:

Just get your assets  on the road.

Seriously, I'm basing all my current knowledge of bikes and talking from and to and attacking from the road, so just so you know, no problem on the roads.

Jos had said it was fixed here. Apparently it's not, and time hasn't reset since the night before last.

Yes. I'm still having problems with bikes. About 5 hours ago at least, my character had to be inside of a bike to attack a person. And I also was not able to communicate with someone on a bike very recently.

I just noticed the smiley health faces aren't working either.

I noticed that too - makes it difficult to tell if your character's are hurt, or if anyone else is unless you spend time loading their 'bars'

I think the smiley faces are now all :) on purpose. But yeah, I don't like that change.

Hopefully that talking to people (while in town) via vehicles is just a bug.

I hope not, and if so it doesn't make any since. You can see a char's health bar even if they aren't on the same location. On one of the other threads Jos said that talking to other chars on/off vehicles was a bug, he that's the one he said was already fixed but it's not. I think the new system is screwing a bunch of stuff up and it couldn't be at a worse time.

The smily faces haven't worked since the change. I would assume this is intentional and that it's because your "health" is now made up of a number of factors.
But I agree that it should probably still corespond to you damage.
DOOM!

The smileys change is intentional. It is indeed unfortunate, and I'm not happy with that change, but I think using the old system will now be too much weight on the server for too little benefit.

The fact that you can see the stats of chars that are not on your location is definitely a bug. I'll have to look into that.

I don't know whether there is still a bug with talking/fighting with people on vehicles, but reading the above, it does sound like it ... There is no intentional change there, so if it is different since the new combat system, it's a bug.

It is true. I can not strike a character on a bike, and sometimes I can't even speak privately with them still.

I think it's more of a hinderance then any advantage, but it depends on the situation, I have chars on both sides
