I don't think it's that depressing, but then again I have half my characters in a semi sleeping state right now so I'm projecting my reasoning onto other players. For me, real life got busy. Even when I have the time to play I have very little mental and creative energy left to put into it. So instead of robo responding or Mary Sueing a dozen characters, I've put my efforts into the 3-4 that are making the game more interesting for other players right now and let the rest of them take a pleasant nap.I was expecting my work schedule to lighten up as I was creating most of them, and instead it jumped into multiple 12+hour workdays every week with occasional 6 day workweeks. I had my first sub 50 hour week since June last week and this upcoming week looks like it should be there too. So I'm considering waking up more of my characters in the next few weeks, but after that my company is going through some major transitions and the last 2 weeks of October and all of November could be really time consuming and stressful, (although I tend to learn new things easily and from what I can tell so far my job will get easier in the new system, but those kind of assumptions can lead to a lot of disappointment)
I figure it's better to leave them sleeping for a time then to kill them off, although I'm still strongly considering culling my herd down to 6-8 so I can have fewer better characters.
