That is why the resistance was hoping for Germany winning 7-1 again. :D

It was not easy ... It lasted more than two years... This is a warning to all countries: never excessively empower corrupt judges - they can be more dangerous than tanks.

No, he was heavily booed at the opening and did not attend the closing afraid of boos. He have circa eighty percent of disapproval.

It's complicated. It's a coup to be VOTED! A coup with appointment date!

I have had the shittiest scariest week and a bit of my life. Last wednesday my 11yr old niece was hit by a half-ton pickup and airlifted to the pediatric ICU. We spent many days not knowing if she'd even live through the hour. We had midnight phone calls telling us to come say goodbyes just in case she didn't pull through. Her entire little body was shattered to pieces, there was non stop swelling on her brain, her lungs weren't working at all. This time last week I cried in a hospital with her mother over her little body, because we didn't know if it would be the last time we saw her alive, before they took her to drill a drain into her head. She was in an induced coma the entire time.

And then wednesday night they lowered the sedation a little. And she wiggled her toes. And we all cried.

And then yesterday they lowered the sedation more. And our precious little girl woke up. She talked. She asked questions, she moved her feet.

To say that I have been lifted to a level of elation would be a massive understatement. There are no words for the relief our family is feeling right now. For those of you who knew, and were so supportive to me the past week, thank you so much. Kind words gave me the courage to find hope in it all, and it paid off. For those of you who prayed for her, and sent light and positive energy her way, who sent healing vibes and good thoughts, and all that decency... thank you.

She's got a long road ahead of her. But she's alive, and she's with us.

That is awful. :( I am so, so glad to hear she's made it through, even though she has a long ways to go yet. Sending positive thoughts your way. <3

To say that it is relieving news would...not really capture what I feel compared to earlier this week Rebs.
Her name (I must have said it to myself 20 times so I would get it right) crossed my lips Sunday morning.

I hope that hope itself shines and the recovery can be as complete as possible.

No words for you dear, I'm not well at that anyways.
But hugs... I have...

Hold her hand when you can... don't let go.

I feel alone, tired and deeply depressed. The promises of a good future to my country and my people collapsed. I with great urge to cry, holding me not to do it.

Another band.

Sitting here watching the feeders from the hurricane come across us... Its a cat1 so most florida ppl are rolling their eyes. Its inconvenient and we can use several inches of rain... lawn mower and fence repair shops get a little economic boost. This is part of living here.

One of these days, its going to blow one of our oak tree's over... we have to hire trimmers every year or so with lift trucks to come trim them. Hopefully they will hold as landfall is probably 3 hours away.

Ugh.
So much rain.
I don't really understand how people can sleep through this stuff, what with its constant changes (fat drops, mist, heavy rain, light rain, pingy rain, drips from the eaves or gutters, etc etc).

I know there's a bad storm heading you and Alladinsane's way but honestly that kind of rain is my dream.

Heading our way? By the time I made that post, there had (supposedly) been two tornadoes not far from Ally's place seven hours prior. XD
Category 1 Hurricanes are usually not much more than a nuisance to us Floridians. For the poor folks in <town name redacted> who now have a tree as part of their roof and those on the Gulf Coast who have been driving in a foot of water since Wednesday evening, I'd say Hermine is a bit more than a nuisance.

Hermine is the first hurricane to hit the state in more than ten years. Must make Wilma (2005) feel pretty special.

Yeah a cat-1 is not much to worry about, we have definitely been through worse...localized flooding and such. We live on one of the few hills in Florida... our brand new roof did not fare so well and we have two people up there now taking a look.

Rain like this you don't really want because it falls faster than the ground can absorb it... so there is going to be flooding, its just a matter of physics. I lived in New Mexico (the desert!) as a younger man and we only got about 10 inches of rain a year, (But you should be there the day they get it!) and even a desert could not absorb it all and we had people die in the flash floods. Its not the same problem here except in coastal area's and low lying (why would anyone live in New Orleans? and why would they not evacuate when Katrina was coming?)

Now I have two men up on the roof again, pounding away near our chimney.

Its time for some Advil. :s

Please do not be alarmed. Keep your hot air balloons tied down and your farmhouses nailed to the ground.

What are those men doing on your roof, Ally? Sounds vulgar.

Fixing a mistake they made earlier with the flashing around our chimney. Supposedly its done for free too.

We are getting a major storm right now, so their work is getting tested.
