I was reading how people who play in a different language, quietly, will be removed.
I created a spanish character, since now that I'm running two businesses in California, I occasionally have people come in who don't speak that much english. I find it sad and aggrevating all at the same time when the parents have their 8 year old child translate back and forth between me and the partents.
So, when I made my character, I was thinking I'd get some practice communicating in spainsh, which I could then apply to my business. I haven't said much, but when my character tries communicating, people respond in german. Not many people come in to my shops only speaking german, not a big help for me there.
So, since Cantr isn't helping me speak spanish, I now have my character wandering around trying to read german maps to find spanish areas. Instead I'm just finding abandoned areas.
I can just write the players department and have my spanish character removed, right?

Similar situation here. I find it aggravating to spawn in an area only to find that I am the only one there doing anything at all. On the rare occasion that someone comes into town, they speak German in what is supposedly a Spanish-speaking area. Now, I'm up for a linguistics challenge as much as the next guy, but even the Babelfish translator can't help me out when an area on the map is settled by those who don't speak the 'right' language for the area. If I am right, I even ran into someone speaking a dialect of Portugese I couldn't understand. There are times I go days without encountering anyone talking...lately I've come to prefer that as they rarely ever speak Spanish.
What's the point of having a Spanish speaking landmass when no one speaks Spanish on it?

You will be missed, Xola Tabil.

I don't know if this is possible, but it would be nice to know where the Spanish area is. My character has been wandering forever and I fear she is getting farther and farther away from the primarily Spanish area. She has lost the only Spanish-speaking companion she had, and I would really like to get her back with some other Spanish-speakers. I'm not ready to give up quite yet.

Is there only one spanish island? If so, could maybe another one be made so spanish-speaking characters have a chance to develop their own community instead of spawning and wandering in all directions and only meeting german-speakers?

The Spanish and the German population have mixed a lot. I think there are still Spanish-only spawning points, but since the German area is no longer dependant on spawning points, German-speaking characters can appear just about anywhere where there already are two.
If there are more and more German-speaking characters settling in the Spanish area, I'm quite sure that this is not a bug in Cantr but rather an effect of having more and more German-speaking characters. If you want to see more Spanish being spoken there, I can only advise you to advertise for more people playing in the Spanish area, playing more Spanish characters and make them so that they don't understand German and don't try to learn it. Sorry.

I know this forum is not for discussion and I promise I won't do it again. But I must say that response is very unsatisfying. At this rate, obviously the limited number of Spanish players will become fewer, and to suggest that I create more Spanish-speaking characters so that they can speak the language poorly to each other is just silly.

Nobody said the forum is not for discussion.
And she adviced also to advertise the game more in Spanish and I fail to see why that is silly - it's good advice. The Spanish area is very underpopulated which is the reason the Germans are a bit more dominant on the island as a whole. More Spanish players would be the solution - not spreading the Spanish over even more islands.
