Should the one hit a day limitation be changed?

Postby ephiroll » Mon Nov 15, 2004 7:58 pm

I would like to know what everyone thinks of this, mostly curiosity, but I think it's the best way to bring combat back into respectable balance.

I'd say no.

I say no as well, because I think weapons will be back to normal one day or better weapons will come along and that would just be insane if you gathered say about 3 untired people and they can massacre a whole town before getting to tired to quit!

This wouldnt allow 3 people to massacre a town easily.
But, this would allow 3 well armed people to take out one armed person. Which seems reasonable.

I would be impossible for 3, or any number less then the number of total people in a town, to kill an entire town.

For this reason, the more tired a char is the less they can hurt someone, if three people did try to do it they would merely tire themselves out, maybe kill one or two people, and leave themselves at the mercy of a very angry populance who would then most likly pummel them into the ground. Any given char can only attack X times a day anyway, where X is the known (to some) limit of attacks before a char can do little else, and if they burned themselves out like that there is little they could do in defense.

I used the number 3 in relativity. Saying that if before 1 person could massacre a town it would now at least take 3. Which in my opinion is still not fair. This makes the game unfair to criminals and it should be fair for the good and the bad. If you can hit someone until you are tired then any number of people could do this to a crimanal and while he/she is asleep kill them in a matter of hours!

Are lets say a leader of a town you don't like. Gather say 3 people and keep attacking him until he dies......

In conclusion I just think this will add to the problem. This game is slow paced and your charrie shouldn't have to suffer for it.

That's the whole thing, to massacre a town would take a group equal to or greater then the number of people in a town, 3 can't do it, 4 can't, no combination less then the total number of people in the town could do it due to the tiredness system.

And yes, a town could kill a criminal in a matter of hours, that's how it should be to reflect the superiority of numbers, it's not fair or unfair to the criminal, it's fair to everyone. If a criminal tries something in a large town then they should EXPECT to be taken down so quickly unless they properly planned ahead.

If a town stands by and watches it happen, or if a town leader stands around and lets themself get killed by 2-3 chars then far as I'm concerned it's their own fault, if you let something happen and don't try to prevent it, then you don't have a valid reason to complain about it.

1 person taking out an entire town? That is not common. It only happens if the people are inactive or already almost dead.

The problem I see with this is with the new combat system where you can't see other people's attacks it seems rather crazy. A person would be able to kill people sneakily and quickly before the person wakes up and can tell someone that they attacked them. It would get very annoying.

I'm pretty sure that's a bug, not a feature. I'm sure you're supposed to see attacks. It may be that you do again now.

I would agree only if person's attacks degraded and their tiredness went up a sufficent level with each attack, to keep one person from making no more than 6 to 8 effective attacks a day seems reasonable. And I think hitting the same person might be reduced to once an hour, but not as often as fatigue, because allowing one character to nearly instantly kill a person seems unfair in a web based game such as this.

Hourly limits would be very bad. Fights would become contests of who could get online more often. If you still want time frame limits, keep it to daily, just increase the number.

:D

Just made the poll 50/50...

I say NO

None of my characters have any weapons, so I still don't understand what this is about the new system - something about tiredness affecting damage...

I say keep it how it is... Or, if changes are made, they must be made so the current balance is kept... It's just right at the moment - you've got to be careful just in case, but don't have to worry about having to regularly log in to check...
Whoever you vote for.

I'm all for doing away with the attack limit, but I was thinking... if we did that for animals as well, you could pretty much hunt indefinetly. I have some characters that would really like that of course, but I don't think it would go over well with the powers that be.
