Sabres have another benefit I've never heard anyone meantion, of the stronger weapons they're the lightest.

my first attack since the change and my crossbow went from an average of 45-50 to 20.

his first 2 shots did 20, then did 0 damage, then his claymore did 0, did 8 damage, missed his first shot with the crossbow, sabre did 1 damage and the last 2 crossbow shots did 0.

I don't mind the weapons being harder to make but doing less damage sucks and makes them not worth it. one of the people did more damage with his knife than my sabre!

im against the changes...

I am soooooo veyr lost. I have to agree with Payne. My composite recruve bow did 18 then 27 then 13. My sabre did 10 then 14 then 22. My longbow did 17. My fist did 5. Is it just me or is this completely crazy?

I'd say yes, very crazy. Somehow I did 6s-8s with a composite recurve bow (whatever it's called) and then around 20s with a longbow. *shakes head* Both characters had full health and no tiredness. I'm so confused.

I just got attacked and got a chance to try out the new combat system against other people.

The first bandit attacked me with a crossbow, causing 24 % damage.
The other bandit attacked with a short sword, causing another 15 %.

Luckily I had a lot of tomatoes, so I was able to heal myself up to perhaps around 85 %. Since I was fully loaded and couldn't work (before I ate my tomatoes) I wasn't the least tired...which may have been a life saver.

I shot them both with a composite bow, causing 18 and then 11 % damage.

Neither of the attacks included anything about how effective the shield of the defender was...

One of my characters was attacked by an animal...it said that my IRON shield protected him only 21....wen did 35 go to 21...or are those constant animal attacks finally taking effect?

What had me annoyed, but I didn't bother to post, was that a few days back the damage on a sabre went down to 36 (I'm pretty sure). That was just nasty for all those sabre owners out there.

It's been at 36 for about 3-4 months, now it's much lower however.

I was dealling two damage over an iron shield several days in a row one point in the past two weeks, then it suddenly switched down to 1.

4 day rule bud.
And I think the definition of "bandit" requires us to steal something.

Declaring that a violation of the 4 day rule is just silly. Since I didn't mention neither the name of the characters involved or the location no one could ever use that information to gain an advantage.

Well if there is randomness added then it's a good thing, but the last time I shot animals, it all made the same damage, I think it was 13 or something and wasn't that what hunting bow used to do? I'm not running around screaming since I've never been much dependant on killing but the lions must be happy now.

I haven't been forced to use my steel weapons recently, but with current situations getting interesting for some of my charries, I'd rather not have to unpleasently find out that my xbows and sabres are dealing crap damage for some unexplained reason. Could the powers that be please fix this or at least tell us their reasoning? I don't want to lose my beautiful characters in the name of ignorance over an unprecedented change... argh!

999-0: You say: "Hmmm...what's the problem?"

999-0: You hurt a pigeon using a sabre, which loses 10 strength.

999-0: You hurt a hawk using a sabre, which loses 10 strength.

999-0: You say: "I can't even kill a rabbit."

999-0: You hurt a rabbit using a sabre, which loses 10 strength.

999-0: You hurt a wild boar using a sabre, which loses 7 strength.

7 Strength with a sabre? I couldn't kill a rabbit for meat....come on.

Tiredness, people. There shouldn't be a mystery anymore, according to the Word of Jos. Though it does look like damage is worse than linear in tiredness (on some range, at least)...at what looks like under 40% tiredness and no damage I did 7 damage to a buffalo with a longbow.

Actually, buffalo have some armor...so they might be taking 11-ish damage - armor, which would be arround 50% effectiveness.

I think the non-linearness of being tired to being effective is what bothers me most. A person can be tired and still summon up enough strength to hit hard... i know in sports I've had to run on adrenaline fumes for over half an hour to pull out a victory... it can be done.
