Once again, people who can't bother to spell correctly. Cantr isn't a chatroom. When people use letters to replace words, it makes my eyes bleed. Why do you have to shorten everything? If you have autocorrect on your phone, I'm sure it suggests the correct words. If you're not playing from a phone, that means you have a keyboard, so you have no excuse to spell like you're from the 90s. I'm sure you're having a lot of fun but it's making me not want to play at all.

This. So much this. Some players really don't seem to take the game very seriously, and to me that comes across as just being rude and lazy. Honestly... how much effort does it take to form full words and sentences?

I wholeheartedly agree on this one. Though part of me wonders if they do it on purpose just to aggravate us? I know I'm like Seko in it makes me not want to play at all. Or go on a rampage and kill them. One of the two.

It's probably just a new player who needs guidance, not someone who's doing things to purposely irritate you. I've always been on the side of not giving a crap if someone's great at spelling/grammer etc anyways. It's a game. We're not elitists, are we?

Spelling/grammar mistakes, annoy me a lot. Said that, I'm not going to get so annoyed if a player makes a mistake or two. Or a hundred. Mostly because I know there is a lot of people out there playing in a different language than his/her language. I'm one of those, I make millions of mistakes (and then I get angry at myself and sometimes I want to hit my head against the wall or something, but that's another story ) But all those players out there making mistakes, they are making mistakes, not doing it on purpose. I need to play with a dictionary to understand what the other characters are saying, most of the time. (And to look for words like purpose, because I never know how to write it.) I'm making an effort. If you are not making an effort and writting chat-mode, you are not just giving the impression that you don't care, but you are not allowing me to interact with your char because I won't have a way to look for what are you doing/saying. Simple as that.

No, I don't mind if they make mistakes, but it's the people who use shorthand. As if this is all just one big chat program. Mistakes I can handle, I make them all the time. But if you talk in chat speak in game with things like "Wth" or things of that sort, I will more than likely ignore your character. And yes, I have seen it happen.

And that's why I tend to avoid them, even when I know I'll be missing a lot of the fun

It's annoying definitely (or more about fact that person speaks english but still it's like another language for you) but maybe these are some young folks trying game? If you are like 14 or something like that then you probably don't understand this isn't chat-like game. Just saying, I remember one young person playing this game like this was whatsapp or something like that

I know couple chars who use shortened words and replace letters with ' and it makes them have nice accent and clearly out effort into it. But I guess that's different thing...

And then we of course just have people who do it on purpose to annoy others.

Mistakes, I can understand. But when they're constantly using shorthand, it's intentional.
While it is possible that they're a new player with some misconceptions about the game, you would think that it would take them a short amount of time to realize that most players use full words. When they continue to insist on using shorthand, it just comes off as kind of irritating, to be honest.

If it bothered you so much, did you try pointing out a relevant part of the rules that would direct them to typing like everyone else? Or, you know, a genuine OOC guidance message saying "Hey, in this game it's more common for people to use full words and punctuation. People might not play with you if you're doing chatspeak or shorthand." Because if not then well, idk what to tell you. If you think a player is doing it wrong, guide them. If you don't want to guide them for whatever reason, at the very least send PD a message asking them to guide the newbie.

Same is the case of people entering inadequate ooc elements in game. Treat them like crazy and give indication of why they are being treated in a special way.
