I am listening to The Squid by ZOX

They are an incredible band from Providence Rhode Island, and I have the pleasure of knowing them personally. They played with many famous bands, such as the Black eyed Peas, Guster, the Roots, and many more.

Please check em out, you won't be dissatisfied. trust me.

1959 Apache wrote:Yes, Ronnie James Dio sang for Rainbow for the first few albums. The band is better known for its lead guitar player, Ritchie Blackmore. This was his creation after Deep Purple. Dio was barely heard of before Rainbow.

I first saw Rainbow in 1975 at the Calderone Theater on Long Island, when AC/DC was the opening act.

Awesome. Before my time, but at least the music still sticks around for me to hear. Yes I was listening to Dio in Black Sabbath earlier (Heaven and Hell) and I decided to put on (I surrender) from Rainbow.

I saw an actual "Dio"- the group, with singer ;) concert recently at Beacon Theatre (74th and Broadway, NYC). They started it off with One more for the Road, Man on the Silver Mountain, Master of the Moon, Neon Knights as well as some of the older ones from his earlier days, like Heaven and Hell. Okay, that's all I can remember. :P The warm up bands were...err Fireball Ministry and Anthrax.

Which reminds me, I'm listening to AC/DC right now- and as is in my ICON there, Back in Black!

The Beacon Theater.......aaaaaaaahhhh the best place to see a concert. Perfect accoustics. In 1974, I saw Kiss there. In '75, another Rainbow show. Over the years after, I saw Kraftwerk, Johnny Winter, Michael Quattro (Suzi's brother) and a few others I can't remember through the haze. Yeah, the Beacon had the best sound.
