Re: The Dead Character Thread
My two interactions with Dash were both really special. I liked the character because she was consistently roleplayed as having a developmental disorder, not a child character. Using that to vent about things she couldn't possibly understand was something I don't think I could've done with many other players.

Re: The Dead Character Thread
Last week, the curtain came down on an adventure that never left home. Sick with memories Nora Bianchi took her own life as the burdens of her past became too heavy to carry. It was an amazing journey to see her develop as her disease did, slowly reaching its peak with each suicide of a friend, a sibling, a colleague. One thing is clear, there was no shortage of suicides in her life and it didn't help her Alzheimer's much. Her life was a constant struggle between memories that were real and memories that weren't. I'd like to thank the people who made it possible to play at such a slow pace and develop her personality. So, my gratitude goes out to the following people among several others:
RIP, Nora Bianchi.
Remember you in another life, and in the notes she left behind. Her last words were, "I'm drowning, but the sea's not here."
- Cora, later Corbin, her sister turned brother that stood by her side in her early life. They spawned within two or three days of each other, and the name similarities seemed too much to ignore. Later on she called her horse Cora which confused people everywhere.
- Ashley the cook. I don't think I can express in words what our relationship was, because we didn't actually do anything interesting. Our interactions were of the mundane and it was absolutely perfect. It was the kind of relationship where you got a bit of belly and your new shirt wouldn't fit. Where you would knock on the door before coming in, just because.
- Rosita, the tailor apprentice turned friend. I'll never forget us standing t.A.T.u. style in the rain, covered in blood after what was the weirdest visit to the lake. It grew slowly, until one day she was the tailor and Nora's inspiration ran out (and my time).
- Gabriel. You taught Nora how to live. Then you got to watch her die. Sorry. It was surreal and beautiful and thank you.
RIP, Nora Bianchi.

Re: The Dead Character Thread
The whole time that I was playing Ashley the cook, I kept thinking that whoever was behind Nora was a master role-player. A master of the slow, unfurling character development. Because you put some real thought and sensitivities into Nora, she was flesh and bone, as real as any person. I will miss her, and I'm sorry that I killed off Ashley the cook too. To me, they were like two, old friends who had known each other their whole lives, who knew each other's quirks and had so much respect for each other. Rest in peace, Nora.

Re: The Dead Character Thread
When I read Wiro's post I'd been thinking that whoever was behind Ashley the cook sounded like an expert (or at least spawned efficient/skillful!) of the unfurling character development as well. It's the most satisfying, but you have to be sharing it with someone(s) that sticks around ingame, or it may as well not exist. You both rock.

Re: The Dead Character Thread
It's been over 4 days now, so I thought i'd post about two stories that are now ended:
* Alexis Frazier - She was my innocent girl... her mind had a very hard time wrapping around many adult concepts like sexuality and "normal" relationships. She was not developmentally challenged or roleplayed as a child, but more as a sheltered young adult who had more of a "child-like mind". She was bubbly, happy, optomistic and caring to a fault. This personality caused her to get exposed to probably more sexual and violent concepts than most of my characters. It became very difficult for me to continue RPing that way after she experienced the loss of several close to her, as well as all that exposure. I had several OOC motivations and things to take into consideration with her home and how many characters needed to come and go, so her story needed to end as I couldn't really see myself developing her further in any direction that made sense.
* Tanya Havel - She was my strong, independent trader woman/assistant town leader. Broken-hearted from so much loss, she found it difficult to connect with others after the loss of so many she cared about. Nothing seemed to bring her joy again. I felt her story really didn't have much room to progress, so she ended up culled as well.
For those who enjoyed playing with these characters, I know their loss was sudden, but I decided on a few new stories and chose them to cut. They both had enjoyable moments and I hope you enjoyed them as well.

She was such an absolute joy.

I feel terrible that my character never had a chance to explain things to her or reconnect with her on any level at all. My biggest regret was always how they "parted"... Now my character will never get that closure. How sad!
I know it was well thought out, but you should know that she is already -sorely- missed.

Re: The Dead Character Thread
No one in Klojt has any idea Alexis is dead. Coventina used to find her sort of annoying at first but she appreciates family and after Amy died, she didn't have much family left save for Alexis. I'm not looking forward to when she finds out.

Dang it.. not another.....
My character will be lost without yours...
So much talented rp gone... And you were one of the main reasons I decided to keep trying this game out, whoever you are.

Re: The Dead Character Thread
Keep in mind that I have already replaced my two dead with new characters. I just felt it was time for a few long stories to end so that I could try a few (hopefully clever) new character ideas.

Re: The Dead Character Thread
It's true. Nora was a work of art. She was infinitely interesting to watch and interact with, even when times were bleak and unpleasant. Friar Briar hit the nail on the head. She was very human.

Re: The Dead Character Thread
I killed off 6 characters in 2015, three of them in December.
Chiumbo
My illiterate lost boy grown into a man. I don't know if his body has been found yet, but he was having haunting thoughts of death even while they were traveling. He wanted to go to K-island and meet the woman from the radio, but it didn't seem like it was ever going to happen. He never learned to write, so he couldn't leave a note but if he could've, it probably would've said "I'm sorry and I love you, Lynx."
Keiran
Not many people knew his past, and that is to say he used to be a pirate and a rapist. Only once he killed someone who hadn't given up on life and fallen asleep. Later in his life he turned a new leaf and managed to have some girlfriends who knew of his past and still accepted him. He outlived them all and often believed he was immortal. He was 211 when he died. He spent the last years of his life making beautiful items of porcelain, gold and silver. I hope his ship doesn't end up sinking with all that wealth. I hope it goes to someone deserving. He also used to have ostriches but never got to taste their meat. That is a shame. He also made the note Learning English - lesson 1, which has been translated into Polish, and New dictionary - Nowy slownik version/wersja #. I think it was up to 9 in his personal notes, but I'm not sure which revision is in circulation. Not sure how much of the verb declination stuff is accurate, it was based on in-game discoveries. He also made a lot of drawings, which can be found in his envelopes.
