What does "YMMV" stand for?

"your mileage may vary" or just that people may have different experiences with the same input, basically.

Re: RP praise!
Olivia's interesting but the type to get on my nerves very fast, both in the game and in real life. I'm glad I've met her once, and I think we need more characters with loudly atypical ideas of how ownership should work and stuff like that, but I'd not like to run across her too often. And the radio drama that kicked up around her a short while (more than four days
) ago would fall squarely under 'making the game less fun', I'm afraid, though obviously... YMMV
Biin Hejj aside the radio itself is pretty near to making the game less fun for me.
and for on-topicness, Biin is super entertaining ^_^ Just what the radio needs.

If I met someone IRL like that I agree it would get annoying fast, but seeing it in Cantr I just couldn't stop laughing. The player was clearly having fun and I didn't get the impression they meant her to be taken deadly seriously or anything, it was all just so over the top with the *pumps fist in the air* and all. Though the main message of 'stop hoarding already' and 'contribute to other people's stories' is one I think most of us can get behind.

Yeah but the radio drama, like so much of it lately, was mostly one person with a need for attention with others chiming in because nothing is going on in their towns. I'm getting to where I can recognize a certain 'voice' even when they're different characters and just go okaaay here we go again

I wouldn't go so far as to say the radio ever makes the game significantly less fun though, since there's so many simple ways (both IC and OOC) to avoid it when it does become much, and it's so useful otherwise I just consider clicking that 'filter' button or waiting till I have to get home to the nice big computer screen to read through it all a small price to pay.

OMG, yes, this. I can't praise Biin enough. He's another one that knows how to have fun. Even moreso than the lyrics, all the emotes and sounds effects had me dying laughing. And to know there's...what? 12 more to come? I got very happy when I read that.

Hard to know what you're talking about without details, and this wouldn't be the place to post them
Yeah, I don't think any place is the place for posting details, because I'm talking about a previous thing that may be somewhat related to her latest causes, so I wouldn't want to risk influencing people OOCly, just...
Marian wrote:'making the game less fun' is a pretty harsh implication and one I'd usually solely reserve for people who strangle RP opportunities through killing, extreme attention whoring, bad/indifferent leadership or otherwise.
...it would kinda fall under that. Sort of 'hit and drag' style tactics in terms of taking advantage of the mechanics and therefore denying chances for RP. But I'm not going to say any more. I'm glad someone's getting some enjoyment from the character, but totally not for me.

I'm very sorry that you felt it necessary to publicly call me out on this. I do indeed try to make things fun for everyone, especially when someone is being denied any chance to RP for what seems purely vindictive reasons.
I do hope you give other players the same treatment and chances you seem to decry here, of using the ticks cleverly to be intelligent, not violent.

I didn't publicly call any particular person out, did I? But it sounds like you just outed yourself

Then we're agreed? That your posts were not base touching with reality of what happened. I'm glad we can over such things, even though the characters don't.

Re: RP praise!

idk someone saying they 'don't want to OOC influence' and then using phrases like 'hit and drag style tactics' to imply, well...hitting or dragging, when it turns out there was nothing of the sort feels like something designed to get a response.

Wouldn't have guessed Olivia was iavatus, so that's cool, and as I've said, the character was fun, the player was clearly having fun, and I had fun too. The actual writing and RP side of things was really impressive too. That's all there was to it, the entire point of my original post.
This is the RP Praise thread, one of exactly two purely positive threads on the forum. I just wanted to praise a character I enjoyed having a chance to be around and wish it could have been left at that.

There was a third. Glorious praise all for one player. Be appreciated if that could be returned, scrubbed of the lasat few posts where it got a smidge messy.

I have yet to figure out who the player is (I don't think they ever post here) but something strange has happened over the years. I remember some of her characters used to bug me but now I just adore them all. :3

Re: RP praise!
More players that made it fun, including a lot who weren't that active
Albert Frog – Excellent use of the whisper function, sir.
Mister Drew Decker – is consistent, unique, and responds well. I kind of decided to dote on you. My pleasure. Apparently you don't get offended but I apologise anyway if you felt rushed by me. You made it a lot more fun to be Kyan, I liked our interactions.
Lindsey – Some really nice emotes coming in recently. One time he blinked as he ate some delicious food and I could see it. Wow. If I were a character my jaw would have dropped at your gorgeous face. Very eyelashes. Such freckle.
Skarp – HMS Mouflon forever! I wish we'd got to RP more.
Os-car – My favourite part is still our first conversation, it made me laugh and it surprised me how our characters clicked at that time.
Quinn – Why is your name a word in the ingame dictionary? WHY? What does it meaaan? You lost your stubbornness and got all meek, what happened? I liked you how you were. This group was to some extent cool, and I'd like to draw attention to Gnelio and Richard as well as Quinn, I hated to let you ever go unnoticed and I would have liked to RP and progress with you at a slow pace over real life years. I believe in you! Hamste, put some clothes on! But seriously, if you're not having fun right now, don't hang onto something that isn't there. If I couldn't do it over x many years, I'm not sure how you will, and I hope you find something fun to do. Same to Aerin, Paulo and Frank. We tried, hey, thanks for trying with me.
Amy Brown – I liked you. I was making you a funny wooden carving. Can you guess which tuberous crop it looked like?
Ciaran – I think I liked you because it's your least active character. Consistent personality and patience over time in what people consider a harsh environment is admirable.
Red – Respect! For sticking it out. Your horse has an awesome name.
Cecily Sardonic, the girl with the pearl – I wasn't around you very much. You emote things well, you're not afraid to dislike people, you're not afraid to be dislikable. Your approach to the game looks about as bubbly as Cecily's personality. And, you're not sonic, you stop and hang out with everyone even if not a lot goes on.
Snerg – Is a bit like Polish Kyan. Often with better English prose and grammar in emotes than I'd use. I really hope you keep that up no matter which language it's in, people everywhere will appreciate it. If they don't, they suck.
Wilhelm – I think often we don't know what to say to you or you to us, but when something started happening I really liked your contributions. I liked how trusting this character is, you joined us so fast that you could easily have trolled us but for once I was actually right to trust someone off the bat. I wanted to learn more Polish from you ingame.
Ragnar Thork – Onions are good for you.

Albert Frog – Excellent use of the whisper function, sir.
