Rooms on boats

Is this allowed are does it depends on the boat type?

I heard someone say before that they were making iron on their boat. I assumed of course that they would have the machinery needed to perform this. I won't say what machines to prevent a breach.How could this be when you need a room to make one of the machines.

Just a little confused.
