Really sad to see so great chars like Swiler Bee, Offering and so many others to pass away for various reasons. Sometimes makes you think that is it worth to play anymore when numbers keep lowering..

I'm sorry you decided to go for the old age button. I assume it may have been a hasty decisions since it sounds like you're regretting it now if you're being bothered by the lack of closure.

Is there any kind of delay or chance to reconsider when you decide to let a char die from old age? Since I assume that's what happened to Swiler too.

I think it's instant thing with no time to think. You just drop dead like... timing out accounts do. At least that's what I have seen to be from old age deaths that have been played out

You have to wait a day to confirm it. I clicked it as a precaution the moment I woke up to find out things had gone south while I was sleeping, but I didn't click to confirm immediately when it became possible. I gave the people a chance to come to second thoughts, and in the last moment they were starting to lean that way (no physical damage, you just have to hand over everything you own). But by that point, I had mentally crossed a line and people should know how stubborn my characters tend to be.

Hmm. Your character and your choice, but it always bugs me a little as a slightly OOC thing when people will attack or sleep or starve themselves rather than RP out a difficult situation. :| I guess the old age button is much the same thing, just quicker and easier, but I can see how it would be tempting especially in an emotional situation.

One can't just harass an old lady and not expect it to have consequences. That ship was her life.

I'll miss Offering, so many of my characters bumped into her at some point and to me she always looked just like the picture. I'm just having a look through all your work and now I miss Pharap. :( He was so cool.

EDIT: Oh wow I logged into my deviantart account to view the torture image. That is way intense.

Having using it twice recently, I can speak to the Old Age death mechanic. As was stated, you initiate it and then have to wait at least a day to confirm. After a day, a button appears next to the character's name that says "Die of Old Age". As soon as you click it, your character drops dead.

I've used it to end stories that I felt were best to end so that I could start new ones. Much like Seko is doing it for now. I completely agree that sometimes it just makes sense to do, especially when an old character has reached the logical end of a story.

Louisa White:
Spawning in Olip he immediately knew something went wrong with the spawning. Luckely he didn't made a big problem out of it and he just found himself a bikini with a horrid hide cloth to cover up in first. Shausugar eventually helped him find a goal in life and help him become the Louisa she was. She build up L&L together with her sister Libby. Fashion being her big passion and it turned out a way of life for her. Loving the handsome captains that came by, always being cheerfully happy, giving her opinion about how gorgeous they looked. Her big contribution to the world, making the world a more beautiful place by making people look more beautiful.
Her first love shook her up a bit by killing himself, but she just straightened her back and went on with her perfect little life. Then meeting her second big love Jasper, being completely accepted by who she was by him. How cute they were. Their wedding being the highlight in her life, -the- event of the season. Not to mention that dress!! Even Jasper (almost) being asleep during the wedding couldn't ruin it for her, big and bold as life itself.

Louisa was brilliant to play, her always cheering me up, specially the no drama part ;) She was "suffering" from a slight narcissistic personality disorder, with her refusing to see any drama or anything that didn't fit her views. She just straightened her back, putting her head up and it was gone. Fashion saved her, it was her way of life. I do want to thank anyone playing with her, the ones that accepted her for being who she was, but also specially the chars frowning upon her. Let's face it, cantr folks turn out to be -very- accepting of these things, not like real life at all.. And thank you specially Shausugar and Jasper, you two made her who she was..

In this game, you can just hit a button, and a few ticks later, they're buried. You can play it emotional or with nary a peep to keep that little "You're feeling a bit faint" message from annoying your feed.

And then, sometimes, you can forget that you're playing a game. I've been having a tough year, escaping unemployment and learning a whole new job to keep my family fed and clothed and stuff. Needless to say, the stress of real life can be...well...not fun sometimes. Those were days I, the writer behind "Shausugar", found Louisa's indomitable spirit to lift me up...not just the characters. I looked forward to seeing what she'd do next. It was a pleasure...a medicine, even... playing with you Mee. Through Louisa, you made my days better too.

Shaudawn just gave a eulogy for our dear Louisa. It was sad to put that chapter to rest. Several characters gave very moving words. And it made me tear up a bit (big softy). I'd like to think that I, the writer, would also be accepting and encouraging to a real life Louisa. Shaudawn and I, as well as many others, will miss her.

Thank you for creating such a great character, Mee. Louisa made the world a better place--not just with fashion, but in the hearts of those whom she touched. And you, Mee, kind of did the same thing. For that, thank you.

It's been four days, so I guess I might as well post here.

Lyra Halifax, Ignatius Maximilian Fairmont, Clarice of the Ice Sisters, Buttercup of the Gilded Lily, Marion of Haven/Sanctum, Anna Blackwood, and others.

RIP

Oh and since it seems appropriate, here was my post from the thread that got disappeared:

Axiom definitely deserves some serious praise. Halifax is the best played pirate this game has ever had, and the only one that I've ever been excited at the prospect of my characters running into. Even knowing most of them would likely get left standing on a beach with nothing but a mug, they'd be entertained throughout, and left with a story to tell that would be hard to top. :) If we lost her we'd be right back to having nothing but the kind of pirates who silently drag people off and murder them, abruptly ending stories instead of creating or enriching them, and that has always been the exact opposite of what's made the game interesting or fun. :/

The interaction one of mine has had with the char is something that I will absolutely cherish the memory (and logs) of for a long time to come. Axiom, I look at your forum reg date and it's hard to believe how much of an impact you've made in the relatively short time you've been around. At this point I can hardly even imagine the game without you. Your creativity and sense of fun and fair play are something I only wish more players had even a fraction of, and I can only think of a handful of chars I've ever run into that can compare. For those who haven't had the pleasure of interacting with her, I'd put Halifax right up there with Elyos and Aubergine, both in the quality of the RP and the player's goals in creating interesting, unusual...often uncomfortable but always fascinating and entertaining interaction with those around them. :D

And that's just one character out of how many..?

btw I still continue to be insanely jealous of the flair Axiom has for coming up with all the best emotes :3

So Axiom, obviously, I'd be another one not wanting you to go. I know you've been through a lot the last few days and are feeling frustrated, angry, and emotionally drained, but this green world would just be so much more lifeless and sadder and duller without your characters in it. And you yourself, the same. It's always been a pleasure reading your posts here on the forums, and of course I don't think I need to point out that the game has been in serious need of more programmers for a long time now.

Plus, you're clearly just having so much fun RPing your chars when this kind of thing isn't going on. I'm not even entirely convinced you'd be able to leave us completely even if you wanted to. :P

But whatever happens, wishing you all the best, and just wanted to thank you for being awesome. :)

Though tbh Halifax wasn't even my favorite, just the most famous. And I know back when you made your original post people were saying they were shocked to learn you played the others, since they were all so different.

There was a radio message about Buttercup I'll put up in a few hours. Daisy sounded devastated. :(

Oh right, forgot I meant to post this.

4859-5.04: You hear from radio at freq. 100: "This is Daisy Crow of the Gilded Lily. I regret to inform you all of the untimely death of dear Buttercup. She and I founded this crew almost ten years ago now, in the hopes of helping young people and bringing beauty and happiness to the world. Now, the hands of fate have struck her down, and darkness reigns upon the waters. There will be no light here. The spirits wail at her passing. I thank all of you who have enjoyed those items we have crafted. But this is the end. There will be no more."

4859-5.06: You hear from radio at freq. 100: "I was driven mad alone in my dying, haunted forest, but Buttercup came riding in, breathless and terrified. A man had tried to rape her, and it turns out she was not the first victim. Such men do not deserve to live. But Buttercup? Buttercup only thought to bring joy to the world. Her creative spark brightened all around her. Her imagination was a light within the darkness. Her spirit burned with a zeal and passion that blazed like a warm hearthfire."

Kind of sad none of mine ever got to meet her. I hear she had an amazing outfit. :) And I love everything about the idea of the Gilded Lily, pretty much. I wish there were more people doing that kind of thing in the game.
