Unfortunately the two characters that collected the information have never met, so I can't justify publishing an IG version. And they never will now...cause they are dead. :(

Damn I miss that account.

I have a lot of people making maps as the go from place to place doing thier thing. Dirt was just my first char and my first to finish something.

Things may come up from time to time. Be patient. Or help.

What about the Blojt Region map by that Rigel Starseeker? The last one I saw he had most of the continent mapped.

I know what you mean, at one time I was putting four maps together at once, (Armedian's map, a map of "Quil Lake", a map of K island, and I started on Aki ) it about drove me insane keeping up with all the info and I gave up on Aki, figured someone else could handle that one.

My character has a full map of the KDS continent and she makes that public. I also have a visual map of most of the continent but it's on paper and not completely to scale. Hopefully I'll be getting some version of that on to the computer.

"I've got a char on Aki island 35 y o and he still hasn't seen most of it."

My char did this one via boat - stopped at every town that he could dock at. Animals were insane at just about every stop - only met a few people along the way.... lots of bodies though.

I've had my own private map for K-island for a long while, but I'm an idiot when it comes to uploading stuff, so I just decided to keep it on paper. I also made a map of the Esperanto land, but sadly, my char there was eaten by wolves just as he was about to finish it...

Anyway... where's this Dirt map? I wanna see it... have Dirt go through the Karnon area and drop it off.

Indeed so. Actually improves on mine, because I was too lazy to go and map Kirinn. I just didn't have the eastern tip.

A very good map though. Good work :D

Thank you again for your compliments, but I'm not done. For me, that is really more like rough draft.

I have a couple of my own questions I want to answer, and a good deal of research to do.

Also, Mind the 4 day rule. I do plan on going all around the entire island again, so everyone will be able to have a copy, but I'd like not to have people running to the latest reported sighting of the map. It'd be silly.

That's less the 4-day rule - just a generally huge CR breach...

But then I never quite understood the need for the 4-day rule if the CR is successfully enforced.
Maybe I'm putting too much pressure on the PD... Well they deserve it, stick-wielding maniacs.

I am considering trying to derive experimentally the equations for speed and distance in Cantr, and then calculating the length of the roads to make a scale map

It's a complex relationship to work out though...

I've thought about that...
I don't see what's so complicated, though. Seems straghtforward.

I'm not about to actually do it any time soon, though. My character that was pondering it would want an organization to support such research.

speed = distance / time

we don't know the distance, but we do know the time.

so what's the speed?
because we travel at 100% of our maximum speed, that's not a speed itself. Speed changes depending on weight and strength, and we don't know how that relates.

so, we can't calculate speed until we know how weight and strength relate to give a speed, or until we can find the distance.

we can't measure the distance (except for arbitary measurements) until we have speed.

the complex part is trying to find the relationship between speed, weight, and strength.

for that i will be collecting as much data as I can, and will probably spend a lot of time travelling the same road carrying different things

oh, did I mention a character's weight or strength is changing daily? hence the speed changes daily (eating = change in weight, not eating = change in strength) that's the major headache

There are no units of distance in cantr (Except the Clarke, and I don't know whether that still works). So define one. 1% of some particular road, or the distance a person with a particlular load walks in a day, or something.

I've heard it said that health and doesn't effect move speed and that speed is calculated only at the beginning of a road. I'm pretty sure that the health-independance is correct, based on thief-chasing experience, but you could test that easily enough.

Then if it's true, you can send your tester out carrying absolutely nothing (or no food) for nice clear measurements.

I suspect the function will be pretty simple. But I don't know.

EDIT:No matter what you do, you have to have a unit of distance. And all units are arbitrary. You just pick one that looks usable.
