Best map ever

Postby Agar » Sun Oct 31, 2004 5:50 am

Ok, maybe it's just hubris, but I have been working on this stinking map for the last 3 or 4 months of real life. Why did it take so long? Because it's a visual map of the K - isle. The dust guide is a good map, but it's only text. There are some nice visual maps on the island already, excluding superfantastics, or whatever the name was, but I've run across a colorful drawing and a more accurate line map. What's different about mine, what makes it so great?

I made if from the location squares. The final procuct looks very close to what I think the New Lands Dept gets to see.

And more than just a picture, all the cities are listed and located, and all the roads drawn. Included is a slightly edited dust map, mainly changed iron to hematite.

But, for those of you who have seen it, you'll note the title. I'm wandering around now, starting the next version of it. I'm sure everyone will have a copy eventually, and then, I can retire. The last version will knock your socks off, if I get it right.

I'd post it here, buuuuut, I know it would be far too tempting for the CR weak ppl.

Damn! Why didn't Dirt tell this to my char who works on a similar project?

One of my chars has had a visual map of K-island since the early 700s. Private stock, though.

Ever notice how some people complain about older characters hoarding too much?

Ever notice other people complain about people being to generous?

The biggest difference with my map and your "Private Stock" will be that everyone gets to see mine.

And mine probabally looks better.

Somewhere on one of the new islands one my chars left a similar map that covered a sizeable chunk of one area - he basically mapped it as he ran like hell from the animals on the island but got all the cities marked along with all of the paths between each.

Painstaking....

I've got another char who recently completed a map that circumnavigated the entire Aki island in the same way.

I hope they don't have the one west is talking about, that map is private stock as in only two people have copies, it's never been shared IC, and only one person has seen it OOC.

No, no. I mapped that island legitimately. And I can say safely that I am too lazy to ever play a mapmaker again.

Mad props to you, my friend. I've got a char on Aki island 35 y o and he still hasn't seen most of it.

And your map of the 'new island' may be used sooner than you think :D

I can trump 35. Or I could until around 2 weeks ago... Steven Kjorf was 37, when the animals finally got him.

That is so unfair. :( That has to be the worst area for maps.........the latest is back in the 600's, and none even show Seatown resources, they're so unfinished. KDS is in real need of a good mapmaker, or a dead hoarding mapmaker. >:)

I think there's an up to date map of the area someplace...

The "Siom Traveling Map" is great for sailing around that island.
