Musical pirates.

(Let's change the subject before this gets any weirder)

I'm using the Cantr Enhancement thingie.

I get excited when I see anything less than 5 minutes until the next project or traveling tick.

I can't be the only one.

I love the messed up technology development in our green world. We started off with cars and now everyone goes back to nature to ride horses and ostriches. Meanwhile our houses are still lit by candles, the majority has no issue wearing unprocessed animal hides, but at least we can complain about it on the radio.

I've always loved this about Cantr. :) Can't wait till we get vehicle and building decay, it just adds to that post apocalyptic flavor picturing people with swords and bows picking their way between rusted autos in the shadow of abandoned, crumbling factories. The rotting carcasses of various animals are piled in the streets, while in the background people dressed in ragged animal skins labor with tools of bone and stone.

Except for the well dressed fellow in a suit and top hat advertising his business from a radio in his van and yeah, still not quite sure how to classify this whole scene in my head.

...and now I just wish I had the money to commission a really skilled artist for a faithful recreation of a Cantr town and all the people going about their business. It'd be some completely absurd and surreal thing, I'm sure.

Whoah, I know my memory isn't that bad. I seem to recall a character I had in krif/drojf back in like day 1000 that had a decrepid stone building that just disappeared because of decay.

and another that went crazy building mud hut inside mud hut inside mud hut and got trapped due to the original mud hut decaying.

It's been a while, but I seem to remember this being a thing. I do trust you though, Seko. You've been around just as long as I, if not longer.

The only thing that really changed in building mechanics is that the exploit got fixed where you could block the entrance with a bunch of stuff and no one could get in.

Building disassembly is somewhat ready but Greek is still working on it I think. I'm not sure what the status is. Probably the same reason we can disassemble longboats but not rakers, being the inner rooms/cabins.

It sounds like in the young vs old ageless battle, the young might be actually stronger. It feels like a new age in the life of this game, and it's so refreshing. I don't think I've had this much fun before. Carry on, NewSpawns. Don't let those tired old leaders hold you back anymore. This game has been stagnant for way too long.

Almost exactly what I've been thinking. Things really feel like they've been changing. Even if it was probably inevitable...younger characters are played by people invested enough in the game that they've made newspawns relatively recently. Really old chars in--not all! I've seen exceptions!--but many cases, are 'played' by people that have no further interest in them but can't let them go and so keep them sitting collecting dust on a shelf. Even the average age for leaders seems like it's gone way down. Leaders in their thirties, forties, fifties seem really common, while in almost every town I've seen the oldest people, in their seventies and eighties on up are just standing there like statues.

I think people are finally en mass that it's far easier to just go around or over these people than to wait patiently around playing by their rules and getting nowhere.

I spawn characters with (to begin with) one dominant characteristic - pride, loyalty, a certain occupation, etc. Sometimes it works out perfectly from the start, sometimes these characteristics are co-opted and twisted, and sometimes the characteristic just doesn't have a reason to manifest. I spawned a character, for example, with the characteristic/name 'Bitter' but everyone was so damn nice that there was no way that that character would ever end up developing into a bitter person. So I was about ready to shelve that idea and go with something else when suddenly Something Happened and now I have my reason for the character to develop as planned, with that personality flaw finally able to reveal itself after awhile.

I like it when that happens.
