With the new craftable items, especially pretty clothes and display cases, I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of the dreaded Chromium Barons. Not to mention gem Barons.

Edit: And searching for something on the forums (Event filters, more information about them so I can know what events they'll all show), and it comes up in the 190 pages of things that annoy you. So go back 3 pages, oh look another interesting discussion. Back another 3, oh a different one. Back, and back and back and oh bugger it. Page 1. Time to go through this monster.

I really like how organized and political some of the Polish towns are. I'm like super impressed and I kind of wish more English towns were like that. They really have it together and make it very interesting.

Polish are really far away from english folks (wish I could speak better polish to play with them) We are like in middle ages when polish are at Renaissance. I guess we lack that co-operation and passion like them ;)

It's a difference in (RL) culture shining through into the game. Actually i noticed this effect for other language groups too.
I think ...

Guess we english speakers consist of too many irl nations then to have same effect.

I really like how horseback riding (or in my char's case zebraback riding) is implemented. It feels just right.

Wait, we can ride ZEBRAS? Does this mean that our domestication capabilities have evolved beyond even the real world?! (At least, I'm pretty sure that we've tried to domesticate zebras several times but it was never successful)

Wikipedia comes to our aid. Includes pictures of people riding zebras. But yeah, apparently they're "unpredictable" which everyone should feel free to roleplay.

Eventually we might be able to ride elephants (this is a very delicate balance issue though). I'm currently working on domestication of other animals including cats, but that has been put on hold until RD gets new members. Several people have told me they've sent in an application, so I look forward to working with them to make elephant mounts a reality.

I was just having this conversation with someone. I don't have a whole lot of experience playing in communities outside of Treefeather and Cantr myself, and what I have seen in other, nearly empty areas could only be very loosely called communities. But it was pointed out that you see a lot more cooperation and trust in the other language groups...you play a Spanish character in a game with very few other Spanish characters, you're going to work together with any you find. Polish players can probably assume most Polish speaking characters are Polish IRL. But with the English areas you get people from so many countries and cultures, there's no instant bond there and we all stare at each other distrustfully from atop our piles of carefully hoarded loot when not waving axes at newspawn thieves. (do other language groups get as many sleepy or crazy newspawns btw? Or is it just an English language group thing to cherry pick your location and skills that way?)

edit: I used to fantasize about riding a zebra as a kid. I know I must have read the announcement but somehow it completely slipped past me that this was a part of Cantreality now. And if elephants are possible...oh my goodness, fun times ahead. Just as long as I my chars can hire someone to clean up all the dung. :D

I want to ride a deer and I wonder is there any other person with the same idea.

I still want a sled pulled by dire wolves.

Deer too, why not. The deer can be in the front of the line, motivation to run faster for all animals involved.

They can be right pricks to train and break, according to a friend who's done that. Horses have a more stable social structure, with a clear leader (not always, or even often the stallion in a wild pack.). Humans can easily use the same socialising, to step in as the leader. With zebras, it's a lot more fractious, and so they'll look to themselves for direction more often then the leader, so it's harder to break them to follow a person all the time, especially when it's something they don't wanna do. Plus we've got more experience handling horses (Xenephon, 3rd century BC), and more docility bred into them, from 2 millenia of human conditioning.

Broken well, tractable as a horse. But it does take more skill and time. But hey, you got a horse with go-faster stripes!

I .... may just have used custom descriptions, to give a young character the design for a shield with a picture of him doing something verby, but non-murdery with a bear. In g rated words, of course.

This is what language is for.

And he's a bishie twink too, so it's weird on MANY levels.

The bear's not very happy about it either.
