Always before, notes were just about the only really interesting, unique thing that could stand the test of time. I just love the idea that the things my character makes could be floating around the game almost literally forever. Maybe I'll spot someone with a sword or dress I made, with a new character on another island RL years from now.

It would be my greatest disappointment if someone didn't strip my characters naked before burying them. I put too much work into those clothes for them to sit in the ground! 8)

Hey, maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones that gets to hang out in a special corpse room until looters come along and strip you.

...I've always been sad the actual char descriptions are lost upon death. No way to ever describe a body you found to anyone, or recognize them later with another character.

I mean, I know people often describe their characters as doing things dead characters can't do, but that's a little something I wouldn't mind handwaving away. Same as a piece of clothing on the floor being described as being worn a certain way, and various other Cantr things it's best not to think about too hard.

This beach with 170 prairie dogs is an amusing image. Google them to see how cute they are. It's like that Japanese bunny island.

This is a great thread. Enjoyed reading it immensely and has helped to inspire a change in the way I play the game. I truly think my days of being mostly a pure simmer are over and will be focusing more on interaction with other characters and role play more. :)

The word "zamordek". I've subconsciously seen it a dozen times, but today I finally learned that it's a very old Cantrian word in the Polish zone for "foreigner". It doesn't exist out of the game but it's very widespread in the Polish world! It reminded me of how some places used to use "the Jestems" to refer to Polish people. Or the "strusie" that some people might have heard about.

The oldest post I could find dates back to 2008, so I'm very happy to finally find out about a seven-year-old Cantrian custom.

.... that this thread, is a few months old, and filled with positive things, mostly unique ones.
The other, more annoyed one, is a few years old and seems to get stuck on one issue for a long time, that we all find annoying.
To me, that's a positive thing, right there.

And even though we get annoyed by things, we still play our little green lives.

Heh, which reminds me, I'll repost something I posted there, as it's not really an annoyance and I had a riot of a time with it.

When my French character first encountered the Polish, we wound up starting off communicating with English emotes on both sides, which slowly went from "terrible charades" to "terrible French-Polish pidgin". It was quite entertaining, really, and several game-years later that character is now fluent at "bad Polish" (kind of hard to speak better Polish than I can actually speak :D ). They didn't have any dictionaries or notes on French at all, so they wound up pretty much having to start from scratch with managing to communicate.

Found an old note that makes me wonder if one of the characters I've met in my travels is actually 4000+ days old.

You know what thrills me most about Cantr? Those people who try to talk sense into your thief character. I mean, they're just amusing. Especially those with mouths full of foul words. Unfortunately, I can't post the whole thing here, but there was this random dude who kept saying the F*** word to me and generally being horrid to the thief character I had made out of boredom.

I'l probably post the dialogues once I'm out of the four-day rule

I'm glad you're amused. At least one of us is. For the rest of us, I imagine it's kind of like sweeping the floor. Just something we have to do now and then if we want to have a clean floor.

I love the fact that using a mixing bowl, I can make tons of explosive powder....and barbeque sauce.

The other day i saw a man with a mixing bowl on his head.
'Ooooh no', i said, 'that looks totally foolish. You should wear it upside down!'

One of my characters has had to correct people on his name several times since he's spawned. My character's steadily getting more and more irritated, but I think it's hilarious. I can imagine this being a recurring joke throughout his life or something.

Hate to reply to this, but I don't think this is really in the spirit of the thread, and is a bit insulting and conflating IC and OOC regarding anyone that wishes to play a character who is less than law abiding. A game is to have fun with. Your character can be angry about something while you as a player are taking it cheerfully as a game.

Of course, in the spirit of the thread, it thrills and amuses me to get away with crimes with no one ever the wiser. :D

I've actually started finding statues built in honour of some of my dead characters from my last account. It's kinda cool, especially since they're not even in the towns those characters lived. I also saw somebody sailing the ship of one of my dead characters, acting like it'd been theirs since the get go. Heh. A few old folk driving around in one of my vans. Kinda weird.
