Would a mechanic that disallows dragging be against game policy? :?:

I had a character in the presence of two 'furriners' once (they were all just visiting to gather resources - the location was uninhabited) and my character had never come across their language before, though had been exposed - in varying amounts - to 3 other languages. So, of course, my character could barely understand anything the other two were saying to each other. But, in the absence of anything much else happening around any of my others, I was sticking what they said into a translator just for entertainment. And I swear, at one point, they were discussing how ignorant the English are of other languages! I was deeply offended considering how exposed that particular character of mine had been to non-English speakers and, where possible, had been trying to speak the language they'd been around most. Out of all my characters, that one was by far the least ignorant of other languages!

Yeah the people I was dealing with seemed to have a thing against the whole language group, not just my character...so I guess on one hand it's kind of funny seeing some IG racism, not something I've really encountered in Cantr before. (er...well, I hope it was IG... Image )

And there was another case where someone said something offhand that had me going  'o...kay', though I'm assuming it was either a hilarious mistranslation or some kind of saying that wasn't meant to be taken literally.

Lazily/poorly roleplayed thieves make the Cantr part of me want to launch myself into a ravine.

If you're going to be an irritating little poon, at least be an irritating little poon with style.

Gosh.

Thieving and RP'ing are diametrically opposed. A good theft, is all about not being noticed, and getting away clean. Good RP, or bad RP, or RP full stop, is about your character waving a little flag and saying look at me, I'm a snowflake. Trick is to, as you say, be a snowflake with style.

Badly done thefts, end with them being chased down the road, catching a few axes to the head, and thrown in jail. Not fun or interesting for anyone. An elusive theft, creates interesting situations and opportunities, for the owner, for the citizens, for the neighbouring guards, and for wherever they end up at. IMHO. But I lock my doors, so I'm not sure what the receiving side of it is like.

People who have locks on important things but don't use them puzzle me.

e: and whichever of us Seko was referring to, I'm not sure how a statement either 'some characters in Cantr are thieves and this is annoying' or 'sometimes people don't lock things' would count as discussing an ongoing event. Maybe we're getting a little too sensitive about these things? :?

The same thing happened recently with Rebma's post that was scrubbed for no reason and never replaced.... Should all of us just make a point of never posting about anything, ever, just in case a similar event might be happening to be happening somewhere out there in the world?

"Man it really sucks when newspawns don't wake up/characters I care about have heart attacks/I get 99.99% of the way through a proj--SHUT UP SHUT UP ONGOING EVENT!" ...would get silly real fast.

Not an ongoing event, just a general occurrence that happens every day. Common as a heart attack.

People who don't put locks on unimportant things, then scream bloody murder when some newspawn takes off with them.

None of the following things are happening around my characters (as far as I know) and yet I'm fairly positive that somewhere in the Cantrian world they are all ongoing events:

Someone confused why someone else took this leadership position in the first place if they weren't going to help.

Someone is regretting getting into their intimate relationship but they don't want to be the one that tries to break it.

Someone is wondering why all of their friends die on them.

Someone is enjoying the visit of this awesome character.

Someone is thinking that guy that just drove through town is rude and probably up to something malicious.

I'm actually not referring to an ongoing event. This is from a while back- A character of mine had something stolen from them; the thief was boring, easily caught, and about as subtle as a brick to the face. It was simply tedious, and didn't hold any substance whatsoever.

The reason I bring it up now, is because I was recently involved in a really awesome (but frustrating) theft, where the thief was actually clever. The disparity between the two was striking.

And they're all about the exact same, slightly bi-polar person.

I'd click that buzzfeed. There's a randomiser floating about somewhere, taking adjectives, verbs and actions and making titles. Best was, 10 kettles that'll make you laugh every time.
