Naranjita wrote:Today at work I used my "wonderfultastics" English skills to try to help a foreign with a lenses problem. It required some detailed conversation, and checking some diameters and diopters and confuse stuff for a non-optometrist like me. In the meanwhile, all the usual customers -old ladies- in the Pharmacy were chatting noisily and asking questions, and I had to attend to many things at the time, and it was quite stressing, though funny. It's very rare I have to talk in English at work, but I did my best, and at the end I gave the foreign guy the direction of the nearest optical store, hoping they could supply them the items we didn't have exactly as he needed them.

Half an hour passed, and I had forgotten about it, supposing he had purchased his lenses in the other place, when I saw him coming back. He just walked to the counter and left there a small box of bonbons for me, for the inconveniences, and waved goodbye while I was busy with other customers.

I found it kind of shocking. If I could, I'd have grabbed his cheeks and shake them, granny style. Sooo cute, so kind! Usually many clients tend to not valorize our time at all, as it always happens here when you do something free of charges. Each one of the bonbons that will go to my hips taste like unexpected gratitude, and restore my faith in the human being. :D Unknown foreign guy, you made my day, today. Thank you!

This is such a sweet story. If only more people were like that. :)

Today, I had a meltdown after dropping my latte and smashing my cup. Granted, it had been a tedious day and it was a new, expensive mug, but.. I'm literally crying over spilt milk. I need a hug.

Thanks for making me laugh in a sort of confusing day. Today I learned there's a special trip directly involved with my special interests just in the exact days of my already paid for Yoga camp. I guess the universe tries to make me choose a certain way and end up my solitariness. :|

I know that site, and I still hate it. Just finished my essay on Jane Eyre today, about the orphan's search for a home, orphans in the Victorian age etcetera. I just don't like MLA. It's annoying having to do in-text references when I just want to do a little [1] in Word and sort it out later. In the end citing works just suck big time.

Oh, you're talking about in-text citations. In which case, I agree, MLA sucks. They're bothersome and rarely clear. Give me footnotes any day.

One of my characters and I are trying to learn some Polish together.

I'm probably enjoying this way too much - especially given that I should have been asleep a couple hours ago. But what can I say? I like languages.

Probably over the summer I want to try to learn some Polish outside of Cantr-ing, just for the heck of it. Unfortunately if I do, I have to find another good language-learning app because Duolingo apparently doesn't have Polish for English speakers.

So I finished Star Trek Voyager today....
</3 It's over.

I'm trying to get into Enterprise now but I think it's too soon. I should save it as my escape when my family goes to visit the grandparents in a few days.

"Come do this with me. We'll have lots of fun!"
You go join. You get involved with a lot of things in the activity.
Then said "join me" person quits leaving you buried deep the activity and pretty much on your own.
A hug can make everything better.
