Or...they could be removed from the game :wink:

I think this is a good idea, actually. It would limit the awesomeness of these vehicles a bit.

So... something with an utterly obscene cost should NOT be all that useful?
Broad item deterioration is a much better solution, incidentally.

If there will not be a range of non-fuelled vehicle options (as in animal-drawn, which is apparantly too hard) it would be a terrible idea to make cars require fuel or take them out of the game.

Making them suffer from Item Deterioration(!), now that would be good.

Anything can be programmed. The car eats fuel out of the inventory of whoever has the key and sets a switch. If the switch is set it travels at car speed, else it travels at walking speed. It's a very good idea indeed. :D
