Philosophical question

Postby Alladinsane » Mon Mar 23, 2015 6:57 pm

We know from the rules page that all cantr characters are human.

They are not born, they are spawned.

So....

Do cantr characters have belly buttons?

I love a good moot point...

Yeah, its a very moot point. I knew that when I raised it.
I was just trying to distract us from the negativity of late and throw something different out there.

I actually goes back to religious arguments where the same question was asked about Adam and Eve.

I don't know if there could be any winners.
Just have fun.
But maybe a few funny additions would cheer us up.

Thanks Snowdrop, that was perfect.

I still refuse to believe Cantrians are humans, there's too much evidence to the contrary. They're freakish aliens who just imitate us in basic appearance and other superficial ways.

So yes they have belly buttons but they're probably used to store the fungal spores they use for reproduction or whatever.

Forget belly buttons. Cantrians don't even need to use the bathroom. This is an terrible, terrible oversight! For all the scrumptious delights that they eat, characters should spend at least two ticks every day in the loo.

Three, if their diets are mostly cheese-based.

In fact, I'm putting in a suggestion right now for porcelain toilets.

Toilet:
500g ceramic clay
200g water
tools: your hands

Toilet paper:
300g hay
100g water
tools: cheese press & drying rack

Can you imagine?? It'll be the newest, hottest cottage industry around!!!

If they do have bellybuttons, why stop at one per Cantrian?

Cantrians have whatever the players want them to have as long as it doesn't stray far enough from human-like for someone to report them, and this is an absolutely beautiful, wonderful thing that thrills and amuses me about Cantr :)

That said, it strikes me that I have never actually pictured in my mind a Cantrian belly button. So unless the description directly says otherwise (and I've never seen one that does), I always assumed they don't have belly buttons :)

Someone mentioned Cantrians not producing waste. That does seem a bit odd since the animals produce dung. Even if they don't have to "use" the facilities, they should produce dung. If they don't produce dung, would they have a place to eliminate such waste? Kind of goes along with the belly button thing.

Kind of...:P

In a similar vein, do animals spawn or breed? Two are needed, but children do not technically exist. Personally I've always roleplayed younger animals, eggs hatching et cetera.

But there's another topic that discusses these oddities. I'll try and see if I can find it.

At this point, I'm thinking all Cantrians and animals exist in some permanent, zygotic form and spawning happens when two of similar ilk cross paths and spontaneous cell division occurs.

Either that, or all that food we eat gets stored up in our ever-growing bodies Akira-style until a blob falls off and forms a newspawn. :P

Animals spawn, I'm sure :P Remember, for Cantrians you also need two (at least)

Of course Cantrians don't produce waste, just like they don't have bones and arent made of flesh, you can tell because they don't explode and wind up in pieces in your inventory when you kill them.
