I've had to think for days how I could answer this topic. I don't usually find Cantr an amusing game, that happens very rarely nowadays. It's generally when reading a witty note, or chatting with certain characters. I think I particularly liked interacting with Arenti's characters. Can't have that anymore.

Nowadays what I enjoy most is custom describing clothing and sometimes other items. I often look up things in Google image search for inspiration, then adapt them to what works in Cantr system. I tend to avoid things that are too modern, such as complex prints or colors that can only be produced in a lab. It gives my characters somewhat of a disadvantage. In the past I used to even avoid using the color blue on notes because I assumed Cantrians had no means of producing it, so the sea was green or gray instead. Nowadays I use all colors without thinking about how the character would have access to the dyes, since notes themselves come from the void. Working with a limited palette in the past was sort of interesting. I'd like to do wax batik one day, but my characters who are into tailoring don't have access to wax.

It was fun starting the Finnish language group and building everything from scratch. It was challenging. The village had to relocate twice when more convenient locations were discovered. In other regions, it would take a lot of guts to say "our town doesn't have the optimal resources, so it's better to leave everything behind and rebuild in a better location". There was a time when I considered relocating Klojt to Seatown, back when there was only one (wounded) character left in Seatown. We could've just packed everything into vehicles and founded New Klojt. But we didn't. Sometimes I wonder what life would be like if that had happened.

One thing I get a kick out of is playing death scenes. Often I have characters who live up to their 50s or longer, leading a quiet life, then commit suicide or have a heart attack, and I enjoy rp'ing the last moments more than the last 20 years of their lives. Often after the character is gone, I feel empty, so I only feel something strong while they're in the process of dying.

It creates leaders out of people that didn't know they had it in them, and followers out of those that thought they knew better. Some of mine complied, some didn't. Some were killed for shooting their mouths off, others created worlds and became important to some. Everywhere was vastly different, the atmosphere was charged and I never wanted to miss a single thing! (Often to life's/work's detriment)... This game is all about balance... and everyone that plays this game, eventually comes out more balanced somehow, I think.

We get to plan, calculate, measure, write, draw and build nations in notepad. We get to laugh, cry, love, hate, miss and worry about fictional people that have become associated with ours... No other game is so unique, or will affect or change you as deeply as this.

We should all be revelling in the fact that we found it, and we should all do all that we can to make it better...

Variety is the spice of life.

Me too. And I'll add maybe chatting about certain topics (it doesn't seem to matter to me as much who I'm talking to as what I'm talking about).

I just love when you run into another character that just 'clicks' with yours in every possible way. The most basic conversation becomes a joy to have.

And just the simple good feelings you get when you set a goal and slowly work towards it until one day all your hard work and patience is rewarded. Whether it's something you made happen working with others or just slogging on alone, I don't play any other games with such a definite feeling of progress and accomplishment.

When I find a treasure trove in an abandoned town or vehicle it gives me a happy feeling too, must be those Cantrdragon instincts kicking in.

I miss too, but his memories are still vivid with some of my chars.
Cantr has many bitter/sweet moments. I like when my chars can have heart warming and enjoyable moments or when they overcome a trouble.

That moment when your developed character had a pre-determined hidden trait that isn't relevant until a certain opportunity or situation finally occurs in game, allowing the trait to be fleshed out and explored.

Finding out that a character has multiple layers to them. Like literally peeling away the skin of an onion. Years in, you're still peeling and enjoying every layer revealed.

Grumpy, grouchy people.

It's so great when this happens.

And this. Getting lost in other character's complexity and finding always new things that keep you in a constant state of amazement.

A character of mine has gotten together with a couple of others to build up a town from very limited resources, requiring trips to places we know nothing about except their name and resources on a map. The ability to lock a door is like a gift from the heavens. Even getting enough food together is taking some planning. This kind of thing was what originally got me hooked on the game. I wish experiences like this weren't so rare now.

When settings my characters created are interpreted and continued by other characters.

I want to second this. I see straight up rude or mean people sometimes but it takes a certain amount of finesse to consistently play a lovable grump, and when I come across these characters I just adore them. :)

And this too, really. I love it when people can look at a plain boring list of resources and interact with them in a way that really helps you envision the town and its surroundings. Even better when other players start going along with it too.

I am often saddened when I lose a char... or that char loses someone important in their life.
Whether it is the slow torture of starvation, or the sudden shock of heart failure.
Gosh I love the stories we lived and how emotions and lives were played out.

A good backstory is just a thing to love. I am not speaking pre-spawn, but the series of events that led us to the other person next to us, or in our arms, or across the battlefield from us. Sometimes I know that a lot of good stories have brought us to this point and the character we see now is not what was intended as spawned, but a conglomeration of all the events, negative or positive that shaped them and us.
"Who are you now, and how did you get that way?"

All of our chars are formed out of intellectual clay and sometimes peoples hands can create works of beauty.

That is one of the many things that thrill me about this game and keeps me coming back.
