Your worst OOC mistake EVER?

Postby playerslayer666 » Sat Feb 21, 2015 3:05 pm

Just got done making love in front of an open window. Neither one of us thought to close it.

I'm use to multiple partners and people watching but not like this. I'm weirded out by the whole thing. The only saving grace is I know all the players that saw are mature so..... Nothing illegal, but still a disturbance to those that didn't expect it.

The other player is probably going to be indefinitely pissed off at me as I am the one who brought her in there. I see this as my fault entirely.

What about the rest of you? You'd be hard pressed to top a screw up like this.

Nothing like that at all, my worst is just messing with cell phone and instead of waster attacked with... steel battleaxe and not only that my sparring partner wasn't able to block the blow with shield... Lesson number one, never spar with cell phone

This mistake is not to be taken lightly. I believe it's a pretty big rule break, I reported someone for it once, they were whispering it and then accidentally stopped whispering. I don't know what happened exactly, but one of the characters died.

Even if they're mature, doesn't mean they want to see it. There's plenty of adults that don't want to read sex rp. There seems to already be some posts that might be in regards to this event on one of the other threads.

Hunting while playing a different character than I expected, in a town where hunting was far more restricted :/ Worked out alright in the end, even managed to 'explain' it IC.

O_o I'll be 21 in 10 days and that's probably the first time I've ever referred to myself non-sarcastically as an adult.

I once had two characters in the same location, and at one point roleplay forced them into direct, brief conversation (third parties involved as well of course but still). I accidentally roleplayed what one character was going to say... with the other.

Something like:

A says: "[talktalktalk] -glares at A and goes to sit down next to C-"
A says: "(ooc: Well this is awkward.)"
B says: "[talktalktalk] -glares at A and goes to sit down next to C-"
-huge long OOC whispered conversation between B and D about it-

*raises hand as an adult who'd also rather not read intimate RP*
(even though I occasionally engage in it myself. Don't tell Ally)

I especially would appreciate this not happening twice, lol.

My biggest mistakes have been things I've done since game changes were made when I wasn't playing. Like, when dragging got changed, I had no idea you didn't have to move small bits manually in and out of a location anymore. Embarrassing.

Might not be illegal in the sense of the word, but it is a severe policy breach to the NCS rule, and could result in action taken against the account if reported, mistake or not.

I made this mistake as well, except mine was when playing Cantr at 2 AM local time on a tablet. And a scimitar instead of a waster. However, I turned the mistake into a real IC insecurity that's addded a lot of depth to that particular character.

Thought I was whispering my plans to take over the town but actually spoke out loud. That character was killed.

Might as well close the thread now, we have our winner.

So that was you! :D
Not sure if it was actually you but I saw that happen once and couldn't help myself ooc'ly pointing out that it could be done easier :)

My biggest mistake by far was when I was messing around with some poisons in a storage, and mistakenly pressed the digest button instead of the drop button, in the fancy new Ajax interface they're right besides eachother :P Anyway, my char ingested enough poison to kill herself, but luckily I found out it doesn't -immediately- kill at ingestion, but takes a while to work (probably till the eating tick or something?), so with LOTS of healing food she survived :)

Also, I once used the wrong weapon as well. Most awkward because it was a bow, not something to be easily swapped with a waster :P

Mine's pretty minor so far, but the first time I had a char use a radio, I was super nervous. A broadcast that could potentially be heard by so many players was intimidating for a new player like me. But, after a little rapid breathing and many rewrites, I finally hit the send button. And then realized the radio was tuned to 100, rather than the small channel I was expecting.

How do you even play off some of these things in an IC way? I mean, obviously it can have IG consequences, but it's such an obvious OOC screw up on the other player's part it feels a little exploitative to take advantage of it in a major way. It's one thing to say you accidentally whispered too loud, but it's another to whisper to the wrong person, or hand the wrong person a key or something. It's not like confusing your girlfriend who's standing right next to you with some random burly guy forging iron in a building down the street is ever going to happen in a way that can be realistically explained.

Once, character A was whispering and gossiping about another character in town. Accidentally hit the 'Everyone' when she said some pretty nasty stuff I won't write here.

A kind of got hit.

Ha, maybe, but I don't remember anyone pointing it out to me. I remember messaging an olbie though, going, "Yeah, Im dumb"

I got this.
Whispering to the wrong person - Ever hear someone walk into a room when your back is turned/half-turned, and you say/ask something, only to hear them say huh, or turn while asking and go "Whoops, thought you were Mum" etc.

Giving items to wrong person-Have you ever been in a group and tried to hand somebody something, and epic fumbled it? Maybe it's just me but im constantly accidentally tossing things at people, or fumbling handing over a folder, hat, lighter, blah blah etc. Like.. I've managed to fumble things clear across a room. Or you know, tripped and lost handle of something and had it fly to someone.

So, for me it's easier to explain these things.
