Does it make a difference whether you're working on huge projects, or about a billion small ones? Or I guess my question is more, is your skill effected by number of ticks or number of projects? That's one thing I've never been sure of.

Logged in this morning to a poorly-written erotic novel by two authors who A) know nothing about female anatomy (or the male's), and B) were writing this elaborate trash in the middle of town square with no regard for anyone's OOC wishes.
Needless to say I'm pissed, especially since it forced me to break character and leave immediately. What the hell guys?

I'm fairly certain it's very much against the rules to RP anything that would require 'anatomical knowledge' in front of anyone who hasn't agreed to see it.

Definitely something to be reported.

Report it, that's pretty explicitly against the rules unless they got everyone else's OOC permission to put on that display.
Though if it was an actual town and they weren't the ones in charge of it it'd be amusing to see how they was dealt with IG, too bad you left, you could have kept us updated.

Re: Things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr
I really wish collecting seaweed didn't turn into such a chore OOC, that I have to count the food in my character's stomach and count the days and schedule the repeats and no matter how hard I try my character still winds up eating a whole day's worth of seaweed... and not just that but a bunch of other resources, where you can only pick a handful of the stuff every day but you need to eat that entire handful for sustenance, there's no resoure in real life that you can spend gathering ALL DAY and then eat ALL of it in one day, unless our characters are literally collecting these resources one freaking molecule at a time, I mean come ON, it shouldn't take so much ooc effort to gather one resource. I even have to wake up early and walk all the way to McDonalds for wi fi as fast as I can to try and not miss the eating tick, which I never fail to miss. It's like there's nothing I can do, even if I binge feed my character - which is OOC and only for the purpose of saving resources OOC so I HATE that I'm forced to do that, there should be nothing in game forcing me to do OOC things like that - the day he eventually eats all that food I don't remember until after the fact. My character has spent a year now trying to gather seaweed and he could have been done a while ago if he didn't eat so much of it. But beside the point no one can eat as much of something as it takes to gather for a whole day, seaweed is found very close to shore and water's surface, and washes up on shore or floats when it comes loose, it's not like we have to scuba dive for it, it is not hard to collect in real life at all, and you should not have to eat a mountain of it to be fed, which is how much you would really have if you were just scooping strands of seaweed out of shallow water which is how seaweed is found. Why does it have to be RIDICULOUSLY hard to gather some of these things? Like you don't even do any research, you just assume it'd be fun to make seaweed hard to gather, no matter how little sense that actually makes. Cotton and silk are slow to gather because that's how it is in real life, but seaweed really isn't and this just feels like a joke, a really bad joke that isn't funny at all.

You can just make 80-day projects and cancel them when you're done.

^^having sex does not take a week in real life. Be cool if it did though.
re: seaweed
The gathering rate does seem low for such a useless resource. It's not like there's even much point to sushi given the other uses for fish and rice.
But the best IC solution would be what Wiro suggested. It's not like you're being forced to gather one day at a time. And as usual it seems like a weird thing to get really upset about.
I'd like to see a lot of gathering rates changed too, but wouldn't changing the way the game works upset players of established characters and force them to quit? And if we're talking about realism, I agree that gathering rates aren't very realistic, but a much bigger issue IMO is how food can be picked all year round in any kind of weather, and of course then it lasts forever with no preservation required.

Just one issue with that though, isn't there? Being unlucky enough to lose 20% to randomness

I suppose so, but you're equally likely to get 20% more. It's a small price to pay for not having to run to the McDonalds. I hate that.

Another possible solution: make real food at home?
Me though, I don't even like to do daily projects anymore. Hourly's where it's at, especially if your skill is high. Bringing in a sweet 500g of wood a day just with a cleaver.

The more I get to know a certain person, the less I like them. In the beginning it was all fine, but now its...a struggle.

If only I had the time to do it like that!

I am feeling that in three different situations at the moment.
