You're right. We should use decimeters.

Some people just want to watch the world burn =P

And I always did that too, though I'd been told a centimeter was the width of an average fingernail and a yard is almost the same as a meter, so I always just went with that. I wouldn't want to measure 60 fingernail-widths though.. but if a yard is close to a meter I assume 60 centimeters is about 2 feet (1.97 feet more like), I just guesstimate like that but they aren't so far off that I'd be like way wrong. But if you do a lot of cooking that's also a good way to get into metric measurements, I have to use them all the time if I'm making food so I had to get used to it. But then sometimes the net weight displayed on a package isn't the one my recipe is in so I have to convert it all.. then it's annoying.

I don't really have any sense of how big a centimeter is either, really... I do know my index and middle fingers together, the width is about an inch, but I probably have kinda skinny fingers?

I thought exactly the same.

I guess that we all take references from our bodies. Although it's more difficult with our metric system. I know that the length of my middle finger is 8 cm (but it's valid only for me); so is what I use for small things (which is not so common), but I have no idea about how much is 1 centimeter (who knows that!); I mean, I know how is approx. but it's impossible to know exactly without a measuring tape. I talk more into meters (1 meter = 100 centimeters), because I use the body proportions and my own height, as a reference.

I'll guess you're not a fan of Angstroms then? :3 Whether I use cm or inches depends which way around I put the ruler down :) Pints are for milk, litres and millilitres are for other drinks, pretty much all the other liquids I measure are in microliters (yay biochemistry). I weigh things in metric without fail.

The only time I go non-metric is when I order a Pint of Ale or Stout. The British pint is about 20% larger than the American pint so I stick with that one, just so you know.

That really annoys me about Cantr, too few bars!

I'm living in the land of eagles and stupid empirical units, and it's not a hard thing. Either get a sense of how long a meter is or how long a decimeter is, and then either think .6 (about 2/3s if 3/5s is too hard for you) of a meter or just six decimeters.

Well, we have:
Damage bar
Tiredness bar
Hunger bar
Drunkenness bar

You could convert the fullness stat into a bar. Bring back the dirtiness bar as well, if you are feeling adventurous. Convert stats into bars as well, full bar equally expert.

Think that will satisfy the lack of bars?  :P

We also have glass bars, if that helps?

And let's not forget crowbars, the most useful bars of all.

Saving a copy of that since I'm sure I'll have plenty of uses for it in the future...

I know exactly what you mean and this drove me nuts last time I had a character in Akypor. A currency system is a great thing in theory until you realize the only chance to use it is once every three days or so during that two minute window when the person who does trades for the town is awake. I assume they were using a phone or something but it was infuriating trying to get anything accomplished that way. Questions that were asked even less than a day before would simply not be acknowledged.

e: I guess this really should go in the 'Things that Annoy or Puzzle' thread...

This does drive me crazy.

One protip I'd suggest for people is, if you're not going to scroll through the day's conversations, at the very least do a text search on the words "says to you." This will guarantee that you find and read everything that chars took special care to say specifically to yours while you were away from the game. Doesn't quite eliminate the problem, but would address trades and other important matters if people remember to use whispers in employing them.
I kill threads. It's what I do.
