Amazingly I dislike it for the same reason, not enough ways to murder people there.

I like Treefeather just fine, I just would never want more than two characters there at a time. Even then it can get difficult separating what your old characters knew or felt about people and towns you've seen way too many times from the current one's experiences.

I'm so sick of hearing about slaves and 'pets' on the radio. I don't even want check the game during my lunch break anymore because there's no telling what kind of very hard to explain crap is going to pop up the screen.

I know exactly what you're talking about.
It's the weirdest thing since one of my characters knows that character, and never really expected it (but at the same time was not surprised).

Anyway.

Most characters that advertise their aversions are poorly played. Subtlety is even more important with such blunt characters.

When I painstakingly roleplay every painful loss my characters go through realistically, over and over, and try so hard to keep things going, but everyone else is like "oh my character's first ever love is dead, I better give it a heart attack so I can finally escape this boring town and make a new character with no problems." Does no one want to roleplay realistically? Real life is about healing and getting over things, why does everyone in cantr take the laziest way out of rping a loss, at the expense of everyone else? Heart attacking a char because you can no longer play them is one thing but killing it just because they finally experienced a personal loss and you don't wanna /bother/ with a complex character emotion and make them fall in love again, is just disappointing. Like why do I even play this game if everyone's gonna die as soon as someone they know dies, and not even give it a chance?

Well.. Not all try to take the easiest route but some do.. Like some do take it in irl too. Guess it's how we people are.. I would find that a nice challenge to play and it would be interesting

There's a difference between giving up because you can't be bothered and giving up because it's making you unhappy as a player, or just coincidentally no longer having the time to play. And outside of characters who just don't care about others I'd almost rather they gave up because the player can't be bothered RPing misery than carried on as if nothing was wrong.

Though dead lovers has never been an issue for my characters I'd hate to feel that any of my characters' deaths would cause other players to judge me as a player for giving up when I've got other characters pushing on through harder times because they're different people with different motivations and attitudes.

If your character is already 50+ when their first love dies, I think it makes perfect sense to die of a broken heart. It's a bit different when they're only in their 20s or thirties. Years back one of my characters was never able to find a new boyfriend (or girlfriend for that matter, she wasn't a 100% straight) and eventually died years after losing her first love. I could've easily killed her off much earlier and not have lost much. I like rp'ing the emotions caused by loss, but if the environment sucks and there's no way out, I'd much rather take my chances with the new character roulette than be stuck as a 50+ year old who no one will ever love again. Also I once had a character who was rather good looking, yet no one ever loved her. Maybe she was emotionally distant and pushed everybody away, but I have other characters who are emotionally closed and still find love.

In my opinion, if someone judges you as a player for deciding to kill one (or several) of your characters, it's them who have a problem, not you. You might have your reasons to do so and no one should feel forced to explain/share/justify their reasons out of character. Some might like it and others won't, just like you might like how some characters are fleshed out and not like how other characters are played, but you wouldn't go around telling people how to play, would you? :) I, at least, believe that the game would be less rich and more boring if I was entitled to decide what other players should do or how they should react.

You seem to ask this question for an awful lot of things, not sure if you realized. Makes me wonder what you -are- getting out of this game.

Out of the sixteen characters I've spawned, I've never had an expert hunter.

Also, how do animals reproduce? Do you need two and then they go happy and have babies? Or do they spawn like Cantriian humanoids?
