Mayhem in Doryiskom

Postby Zoot » Mon Oct 13, 2003 2:56 am

Or, to be more precise, out of Dory. :D

A particular criminal by the name of Mayhem or Kenold, depending on your views, was recently released into the community. He killed approx. ten residents of the town in the past. Said convict escaped the Dory jail, where he had been re-imprisoned, because Sherrif Horatia Martinus unfortunately fell asleep before she could lock the door.

What follows is a merry chase down an unspecified road, Dory City Guard in hot pursuit, only to find that the culprit has picked up a bike in a nearby settlement and taken off.

Said Sherrif Martinus is distraught, for not only has a mass murderer escaped on her watch, but her beloved tavern keeper and skooma-brewer Councilman Orgduz is ages ahead of her on the road, determined to kill the man.

So she's torn: Is she chasing the criminal, or chasing the man she loves?

My point? Let's chat about the difficulties and complications posed by police chases in Cantr, shall we? Or just Dory in general...

This sheriff sounds like a very well developed character. I never had a character in Doryiskom though I have heard a lot about it on the boards.

Police chases are rather hard especially when the criminal gets transportation like a bike or a car or even a boat. Personally, I think there should be a way from the outside to drag the person from the bike or to be able to board a boat if it is still docked or by another boat that comes up next to it. Cars would be harder to stop but give the option to shoot the tires with an arrow or bolt or maybe a gun someday if they are ever added.

It seems most criminal eventually meet their end sometime in someplace. Other than a few, I never heard of a criminal that has gotten away and never caught or killed. Most simply disappeared from Cantr and nobody heard of again (though that doesn't mean they aren't around anymore  ). There are only two famous criminals that I can think of that are still alive (or they might not be). One is Videl Ramos who was the leader of the Red Knights gang in Siom's territory. She decided to go in over her head and attack a Siom Deputy and became a wanted person. She escaped Siom and came to work for Sultan Ryan McConnell. When the people in Brunoi overthrew McConnell, she escaped on a bike, though she was chased down by people from Brunoi, she got away. Then there is one character, whom is a veteran player in Cantr, who likes to go around and hit people blaming it on his talking sword named Bob. I'm not going to say his name or who the player is but I'm sure a lot of veteran players on this board know who I'm talking about  . This Mayhem or Kenold fellow may become the next famous criminal who got away. :P

You let Mayhem out???

Why??

He had the best sentence ever in the history of Cantr: at least 300 days long, maybe even more. Could have been closer to 1000days long

I fear that if Councilman Orgduz keeps going, he may never find his way back....He dreadfully misses Dory. but his hatred for Mayhem grows ever stronger.....

Well Arvad could have told him that was going to happen. Once a madman, always a madman.

Ah, but Sheriff Martinus is determined...or just loyal. She's behind the whole crew, alone in the desert, but she walks on. She's going to see Nelad again. She'll get him to come home, and stay with her...or follow him on this revenge quest.

I take that means you play Nelad Orgduz, 7?

This is a complicated tale.
This would make a great story outside of Cantr when it is done.
Since it would not have too much influence having all of the details know when it is over, it would be great if the day reports could be made avaialble to someone who would write the story.

Yeah....if someone wants to write it, I can try to dig up old turn reports after the fact. But I dont have most of them...because in the start, I never imagined any of this happening, and I guess thats the beauty of Cantr.

Do it from memory, and what you know or can find out about the events. It's better that way

I can't wait until Horatia catches up with the main group. There's going to be a reckoning.

And drinks passed 'round. Nothing like mushroom juice to ease aching feet. Desert trudges ain't pretty, y'know.

I've noticed the whole Dory/skooma thing

how does that work? I mean, skooma's a concept in a MMORPG but not IRL, so technically that'd be copyright infringement or something, similar to those Elvis notes a while back, right?

Just a bone to chew on..

Yeah, well, assuming there's a happy ending.

I'm quite miffed right now, though. She's stuck at 25% through that desert. It's bad enough that the desert takes so long to cross...

I wonder what's going on up ahead?

Well, I know there's something called Skooma in Morrowind, but its a narcotic of some kind, not a beverage you can get drunk on.
