Karnon Empire
The Rangers

And yes, I'd list the Order of Donii as a religious faction.

Blojt at one point claimed responsibility for a number of towns. I suppose they called themselves a Republic as well? I don't recall what term they settled on.

DoUrden were pretty strong back in the 600s.
New Xanth (pre-massacre).
Blojt (pre-massacre).
The ancient Quillanoi government should probably count, as it had 3 or 4 active civil servants most of the time.

I feel I am missing alot here.

Does the.. Umm... Lenai Alliance or whatever it's called count? :P It's not too active anymore, I believe, but at least it's tried.

Also Darwin tried to expand for some time.

Not sure what counts as a faction, precisely.... some of these mentioned seem more like political entities purely, rather than factions like the Blackrocks or MacGregors or Stone Knights were. The latter were more clannish, sometimes tied to particular geographies, but geography was not the bedrock of their identities.

I'd add Silver Knights to the faction list, they've been around a long time.

If we're adding purely political entities the King... and later Queen... of Olip West were pretty influential for a while, and had influence or control of three towns.

One of my chars has a note about Empire of Ladvicitavoi and it is signed by Fourth Emperor of the Great Alexian Empire. Year is 894 and there is another note from the year 587. Most recent data I have is from 2075, it is interesting to think about all. I will be happy if someone gives me knowledge about the time between those periods, I'd like to know their complete history.

The Lenai Alliance is still around, but it functions more like a confederation... town leaders friendly to one another that meet together now and then, but have no central rules or government - each town essentially operating as a city-state. However, I don't know if they've had a meeting for a while. United Shield leaders seem to meet more often.

Part of the challenge with factions is that no player can have more than one character who is part of the same organization, and so these types of factions can only grow so large before a player has their own characters running into one another.

On the question of the Alexian Empire, you may want to have your character travel to Alexilad (which is now being run as a hippie commune) and have them ask IG if they have any history of the Alexian empire. I don't want to share the history OOG, but there's quite a bit and it's rather interesting, though somewhat bloody and violent. :D A complete history might be hard to come by, but a few of the characters were there to see the empire come to an end and were responsible for the conversion to a commune. You might find the story interesting.

Blojt had, the Commonwealth at some point, but I ever only experienced the remnants off it.

Ahh, memories. I had a couple of characters involved both with and against them. :)

DoUrden were one of two things that hooked me on this game (the other being the Quillanoi government).

Over 11 years later, I'm not sure if that is a good thing or not!

DoUrden I know only because one of my characters enslaved one of their girlfriends. I remember being impressed by their numbers and organisation in what was a very swift rescue.

In my personal opinion, roleplaying is now the main incentive for most players it seems. Back then, there were much larger/wider goals for most caharacters, and thus easier to create and maintain interesting happenings on a larger scale. Today it seems if I can create a sex-addict character with its head screwed on backwards, refusing to wear any clothing but porcupine moon-boots, and then get laid, that fulfills the life purposeof said character, and that character would then be content with its life achievement.

Sad but true, Echo. Also, a lot of people of late seems to equal roleplay with love scenes (including endless, boring "insert rod A in slit B" or not) and nothing else besides of it.

Back on topic: the Montesbrumos clan.
