Factions

Postby Andu » Thu Jan 22, 2015 10:16 pm

If we start listing them, how many factions/nations/clans/prominent families past or present can we name, which have spread their name and influence, claiming land? I think anything with less than five-six member shouldn't be counted, unless they where/are longlived?

I start with the ones I know(no order in particular):
Blackrocks
Stone Knights
Sidewinders
Firecam
Federation of Pok Army(FPA)

Um that was short, I remember a ton more, but not exact names...

Emerald Knights.
Macgregors.

Edit: Between the blackrocks settling on noniwrok the Guardians and De Dannans we re fairly prominent on that Island.

There, a few I knew but just forgot. I thought of including the De Dannon but decline as I didn't know them too well.

Here's one from the old days. The Barons.

The Republic of Naron, but that seems to have fallen apart.

I'd include the United Shield. I'm PRETTY sure it has more than six members.
then I believe there's one called the Templar Order of the Rose

There is the Empire of Zuzi as well. Though I think its smaller than what it used to be. But thats a guess since I don't know too much about the history of it.
Oh look, another glorious morning… makes me SICK!

It's still intact, just has it's problems and sleepers like everyone else in cantr... but still very much a government faction and independent of any other group. The three towns are still closely allied, and have active leaders and soldiers on duty in all three towns. It's not enormous, or incredibly wakeful and busy, but the decline in cantr members, massive loss of characters and influx of characters who become sleepers and amount to nothing, makes a lot of groups these days seem like shadows of their former selves.. sadly.. but until there's some sort of falling out, or government overthrow, it is very much still the Republic of Naron.

And I would assume the Empire of Zuzi was way bigger back in the day, as towns in general and player population was bigger. It still seems pretty big though, so it definitely counts. There are few towns it seems that get that big, most of the huge towns I used to know have dwindled to almost nothing.

The United Shield including towns that have joined them has to be more than six, my character's town is involved so that would make every one of his citizens affiliates of theirs also, I would think, unless we're being super technical here...

Also what about the Silver Knights? You mentioned the Stone Knights, and half of them are practically family it seems like, and in the past they seemed like bitter rivals for a while (to my recollection). The Silver Knights are still very much active and in commission, and have influence in two cities.

The University of Klojt should also count I think.. there's at least 8 members, and they're a very efficient and relatively alert group, and for as new as they are in the world, they're doing pretty well compared to most up and coming groups. They don't claim land but they definitely spread their influence, or try to, anyway.

Branching off from Zuzi, what about the Followers of Donii? Would they count as a faction?

Doesn't the empire of Zuzi cover like, maybe two or three locations? Unless things have changed recently. I remember being kind of disappointed to learn it really wasn't much of an 'empire', though I guess it's impressive enough just being an active town with a big (annoying) population.

That's pretty much what it's been for a very long time.

Great Empire of Alexia. That seemed to be large too in the past?

in the past. No bigger than the two or three town empire that Zuzi was/is, or the Naron Republic who were their rivals, at least if you look at the map Eurytion made of the great empires. But the Alexilad Empire is gone with its last leader (a horrible Hitler-like Chancellor who executed newspawns who slept, and constantly tried to steal towns from people, and trained pirates and called them soldiers) it is now nothing but the town of Alexilad, apparently some kind of hippie commune which in my opinion, is way better than what it used to be.

For the record, I have yet to see any empire or group that covers more than three cities, even on old maps, I think it's pretty impressive, and all three cities are active and alert, which is also rare these days. I'm not sure if Xendra is independent now but Kiii is still in the empire and someone is looking for another town to add (even if I personally think it's unecessary, to each their own).

Now days it's so easy to make empire on map, just declare all empty towns part of empire and you have one. At this moment I think 3 active towns is really something, sleepiness seem to be major problem all along the world which makes building new ones kind of hard..

The problem is why would you have three towns when you can have one? For organisation purposes it's much more effective.
