Where are you spending your time in the Cantr world?!
That was my phone's autocorrect thinking raping is better than RPing. >.>;

And of the three that don't use olive oils, I'm still lacking the ingredients for the others. Like nuts, coconuts. My chars are just in badly placed locations where it will take a good long journey to get the ingredients.

One of mine potentially could make soap, but doesn't have a reason to currently.

Bumping threads again!
I was just reading up on this and it annoys me to no end that 'foul-smelling soap' is even a thing. Seriously, do some research guys.
Even with Cantr using liquid soaps (which I assume since from the wiki they don't need to be poured in molds or cured) there would be no 'foul smell'. It's not fat and ashes anymore, it's soap. It doesn't smell for the same reason the lye doesn't burn your skin. It's called a chemical change, look it up.

I guess it ought to be renamed...

That is not entirely true. It really depends on the kind of lard or tallow used, and many of them do smell. Since in Cantr it's so cheap and made of (basically) raw meat/fat we chose to make it smell to make it less desirable than the more expensive options.
EDIT: I've only seen it once in-game though. If the name is too effective it might have to be renamed. I'll have to ask Greek to find out the number of them made so far.

Just calling it 'lard soap' might still be enough to make it less desirable to a lot of people.
Or if you want to make it more balanced as far as time to make goes why not require some kind of rendering process?

This sounds like just unnecessary nitpicking to me. If you've got the riches, you make the fancy soaps. If not, the foul one. It's obvious the latter isn't likely to be used for luxurious bathing and such and Wiro has already stated the obvious with regards to the thought process behind it.
"She could make something sound stupid just by hearing it.”
"For a short moment there, you almost sounded human."

I agree the name is a detriment. I do have a character with soap, and another who would make it but is too busy trading the materials away to do so. I would never make 'foul smelling soap' just because I imagine my characters smelling foul after and that defeats the purpose. Just changing it to soap, or lard soap, or unscented soap or something might help. It would give the idea that you can get clean, just without the idea of a foul odor following.

I don't have a character at all but yeah, I can't imagine ever wasting time making 'foul-smelling' soap that would presumably make me smell foul. I'd rather just use plain water in that case, thanks.
