A few things that are limiting some of my characters

Does that mean it's night when it rotates so that the donut casts a shadow on its inner ring? That explains those stars people keep seeing. They're lighthouses hovering above them on the inner side of the torus.

I prefer the interpretation of Cantr as a Clifford Torus, because then rays of light still travel through the world as you would expect. You can just say that the 4th dimension of space is not detectable by humans walking across the surface.
