I have find a few problems with resources and would like that someone check if they are true or not. I have characters in two islands I will call them island 1 and 2. Island 1 I have explored and find maps so I new all areas by name and nearly all resources. The problem is to develop iron. The island doesn’t have any limestone or coal. And it seems that the requirements to make charcoal also are missing. In other words it is impossible to make iron.
I must confess that I have not explored the whole second island yet, but after talking with a lot of people there and no one have found any woods. I start to wonder if it exists any. The people on the first island can always build boats to travel away, but the people on the second island don’t have woods and can’t produce iron. Can you build boats without this thing?
If not the people here will newer succeed to go to another island to bring back resources.
I don’t know if there are any more islands but all by characters have started on these two islands.
I would like that someone checked if all islands contain woods and if it is possible to create iron from the resources that exists.
If it is impossible to create iron a large part of the game disappear.

This kind of balancing is almost impossible to do properly, I think. If I make all nice resources easily available everywhere, it is nice at the start, but there is no interesting trade later on. Right now the island might be a little boring and low on development, but what when they're discovered by other islands that do have those goods - then it will make it a much more interesting fact that those resources are missing.
It can also create interesting dynamics, like for example all people fleeing from the small island of Sring-Sri because there were so few resources and such a bad political system ... I don't think Cantr will be any interesting in the future if all regions/islands are completely self-relying.
