If I was asked what I am...I'd answer 'sheep' and see how they feel about that!

Allow me to introduce myself. I'm the woman who just fell in love with you, because of this comment.

I have characters from the both genders , but I must say girls are majority and none asked me my ooc gender. Now I feel frustrated :P

Are you publicly admitting to OOCly changing your characters behavior based on who plays the other characters yours interact with? If so, I strongly suggest taking a look at the Wiki.

As others have stated, Cantr isn't a sex simulator. Nor is it a dating website. While these things do happen in the game to varying degrees, it is just a small fragment of the bigger picture. I have both male and female characters and when interacting with the characters around them, I could care less who or what is controlling them. I have maintained RP even when I have a VERY low opinion of the player behind the character, because anything else is against what this game is about.

ALSO, TO MAKE CLEAR:

Any complaints received by the Players Department in regards to players changing their characters behaviors based on finding out the sex of the other player, the ID of the other player, or any other OOC information will result in action against them by the PD.

It sounds more like the poster is afraid that the other player will end up obsessing about him or her due to the nature of the RP... Whether that has to do with the player's gender or not, I'd say it's not something you have to worry about. For one thing, the players around here seem to be the reasonable sort, for the most part, and people who are only trying to find a venue for random cybersex encounters would probably be frustrated if they used Cantr for such purposes. People who actually end up rping sexual relationships in this game are most likely in it for the RP.

Also, In the game (although I have no experience of this myself, since all of my characters have avoided long term relationships somehow) I understand that it is common for players to ooc'ly request the scene to "fade to black" if they aren't interested in or willing to roleplay sex. If you are concerned, still, just use this when the need arises.

How are you going to force people to RP with their real-life enemies?
People can always tell that they do not have time for this character and let it sleep lol.
Or just that they got an "enlightment from higher power".
Or "dark gods swallowed their soul".
Or "oh god no! maggots started chewing out their brains"
Or simply their characters stopped liking the other characters.

There is one weapon better than crossbows, axes - it's ignoring characters.

I'm of the well voiced school of thought that the gender behind the player of a character is really a moot point. I don't limit myself to only playing the same gender, and I don't care what gender or people play.

I know I have in past had characters entangled with men played by women, or women played by men, it's never been an issue for me, they're all just characters in the end. That degree of separation is quite crucial tot negate, I think.

Also, as was brought up, fading to black is a perfectly acceptable tool if you aren't comfortable role playing intimacy, or don't have the time to.

If you find you have a hard time playing once you know who is behind the other character, don't ask. This is part of why Cantr was designed too be anonymous. On the other hand, if you're concerned about how the player on the other end is handling things, or they as a player are making you uncomfortable, report it. The issue cannot be addressed if it isn't known of.

We aren't forcing anyone to RP with anyone. Please go back and reread the statement. If English isn't your native language, ask someone from your language group to translate it for better understanding.

Since the subject has come up I'm going to ramble a bit.

I don't do the sex thing in cantr. It just feels uncomfortable to me so my charries avoid it. I have one that if you asked him and he answered honestly he would say he loved someone but will never act on it. Perhaps I could be convinced for some fade to black type stuff where the two charries go into a building and we just rp they did something. Plus its no secret that I'm not that good at RP anyway so it would probably be boring on my part all around lol :)

More on the discussion I have one female charrie currently. A few in the past. One I admit I made when I played the first time just to be a meddlesome *five letter word* to play to those stereotypes.

Not so much recently but there have been times in the past where I got the feeling that a majority of the players were just here to find someone to have cybersex with. Personally I'm really glad that it doesnt seem to be so much the case now.

I'm just going to point out that the plural of "sex" is "sexes," and what is being discussed is gender. How is this discussion going anywhere?

Because yours was the first elitist post to try and derail it with a comment about its grammar/spelling, I think.

Bringing the topic back on track...

What I want to know is why would someone put more stock in the sex of a player than the quality of their RP? Would you really turn down the chance for potentially awesome RP/storyline because that character yours met doesn't share the same gender as its player? If the answer is yes, then I think you are playing the wrong game, but that is my opinion.

Someone had to do it! Especially when your post commenting that the whole point of this is trying to justify an obvious CRB. Personally, I don't care the gender of the player, unless it interrupts rp. Some people really can not pull off a convincing character in the opposite gender, and it's painful to watch. For the most part, though, why would anyone care?

If the possibility of you playing a romantic/sexual partner with a character who might be played by the same gender as you freaks out you, don't play a romance or sexual encounter. Simple as that.

For the OP on this topic, I play 7 female, 7 males, 1 hermaphrodite cause why the hell not. And it was this game that I first started RPing in and introduced me to RP so many years ago. I think over the years, I play females better than I play males..

and the only reason I'd just up and stop RPing with another character is probably the same reason many women would just up and leave a man. When the entire sequence of an intimate RP scene is 3 posts long and half a line long per post, starting at taking clothes off and ending at rolling over and passing out. its a real killer for RP and future RP.

No one wants a minute man :p

This whole subject crossed my mind quite a few times in my Cantr life. My few secret experiments were loosely related to the subject in some way... to gage reactions to certain things and see how some characters RP in certain situations... and my thoughts seem to mirror the majority:

> If it is done well, it simply doesn't matter. However; mistakes and uncharacteristic traits made whilst dealing with this subject really jarred with me... and stuck out more than a mobile phone in a fantasy film... putting both me and my characters off. So do your research, people.

> What Auryn and Reaction said. If you don't want to know, don't ask, or just don't get involved that way. Easy.

> Fading isn't degrading, and should be available to either side at any time... WITHOUT question, OOC or otherwise.

> I was quite surprised how many male players have female chars purely for girl/girl intimate RP... and how dominant/masculine/pushy they are in general (big giveaway). Okay, so I can play the incongruous/smug bitch pretty well, but please... just take no for an answer...

Are you saying RL women can't be strong, dominant, pushy people? This battle just escalated! *points at Otherside* Get'em ladies!
