There are/were characters who rarely wake up but expect someone to acknowledge them as soon as they do some trivial emote, or otherwise they're going to start pouting about being ignored. It gets old.

Or how about hearing on the radio that some character is active, and knowing some other character is played by the same person, yet the other character doesn't wake up, or doesn't reply when you talk to them. I understand some characters are more fun to play than others but people could at least check a character when it lights up. Or if you have talking filtered out, that's a sign that it's time to either move to another town or kill off the character.

I didn't find anything enjoyable about that drama queen and her horde. The ooc drama she caused, spreading rumors and hate, her insane paranoia, was beyond a joke. That, and all her characters were portrayed as these sweet innocent goddesses, with sunlight shining out of their butts. If you or your characters didn't respond to her, or didn't see them as the goddesses she thought them to be, her characters would cry and whine and throw a tantrum, villainizing your characters. Then she would do it out of character as well.
So, in my honest opinion, good riddance. Some drama I can find enjoyable, they make for good rp oppurtunities. Life isn't drama free, and in moderate doses, it's fine. This game can't just be all happiness and work. But that was just madness.
And I totally agree about the blackmail. It's awful. I'm lucky enough to have not encountered it in game, but I have seen it ooc and it sucks. :/ I don't blame you for just telling the other character to get it over with.

There are differing preferences, sure. But plenty of interesting RP can be found from players who don't multi-account and use their own chars to push a storyline. It's far more impressive when a player can manipulate a situation without cheating.

Of course there are still drama llamas, but I noticed a huge drop in the number of complaints once certain accounts were locked. Thank you PD!

I wonder if this thread is going to end up locked.

Apparently I don't know the whole story of what is going on lol so ignore any comments I have made regarding the subject. I thought it was casual convo not a specific happening :)

And, as always, I'm annoyed that everyone seems to know everyone else ooc. That is really disturbing.

I can't believe you can keep the ooc knowledge out of the game.

At least I don't know who everyone else plays. I might know some older players' characters but as for newer players, I have no idea. That makes reading the "I am..." topic annoying because everybody keeps being so vague it's impossible to recognize anybody.

Assumptions, assumptions.

Sometimes it's hard -not- to notice that 2 or more chars have the same style. A player mentions something on the forum that ties them to 1 of those chars and the pieces fall in place.

I can count on one hand, with fingers to spare, how many people I talk with oocly on a regular basis. It's my own personal preference to keep that to a minimum. I honestly don't care if others talk oocly as long as they take measures to not let it interfere with game play. That's when the problems start to happen. And it can be difficult to keep ooc knowledge out of the game, but players who bully oocly for a char's behavior or seek revenge in-game against a player's other chars....those are all situations where PD can be notified to get involved.

Edit: On the flip-side - I have made several great friends by talking with other players outside of the game. :)

From 2004 to 2007 there was a trend that a lot of people were publishing who they played. I didn't notice it causing trouble back then.

Edit: Often people ask me if I play someone I've never even heard of before. The point is just because someone might think two characters are played by the same player, it isn't always the case. In the past I was mostly getting mixed up with Marian's characters because apparently we have similar styles, but I'm guessing she's not currently playing.

I wish it was more acceptable to talk about events in game in an OOC manner. I love talking about the game but maybe 3 times in a couple of years have I gotten to do it because there's just no platform for it. Everyone has a ton of OOC information that they dont use in game I dont see why it would matter if people were more open to discussions about their characters. I guess there is fear that others might bend the rules a bit and use the info against them? not sure. Personally I wouldnt hesitate a bit to post everyone of my characters right here and now and ask if anyone wanted to discuss anything but I have a feeling it would be frowned upon.

I used to be a lot more open about ooc stuff, but now I rarely talk to others ooc. I too can only count on one hand, not even half that, the people I talk to OOC these days. I have found it's much more enjoyable to rp without any ooc influence, even if I know who the player is on the other character just from guessing. Any ooc chat is just friendly chatter, or opinions on the game but no in game events. Sure, I was ranting just now, but that's about past events. That player is long gone (thank god), so I see no harm in expressing distaste for how she behaved. I can only hope that others don't do what she did. It totally ruins the game, and I was tempted to quit just from interacting with her in game.

Plus a lot of us can't help knowing which characters belong to who. Some people have a very distinct rp/description style. I keep trying to change mine to freshen it up, but only a rare few actually see my true rp style, since I rarely get the opportunity to do long, descriptive rp's.

Sometimes I've been thinking that it would be healthy if there was a way to debrief things anonymously if something traumatic happens in-game, because for example if someone offends your character, it's easy to take it personally and start thinking the other character's player must think the same way as the character, even if it was actually roleplayed, and who knows the player might even feel upset that their character hurt someone's feelings.

This seems unnecessary to me since players should know not to take it personally. Isn't this the whole point of the game? We can feel close to our characters, but we shouldn't put ourselves in their shoes, we're not them. If a character insults yours, they're not insulting you personally. We've seen many players who talk on the forums OOC about someone perhaps killing their character or making their life hell, but they clearly don't take it personally, and even applaud the other player. This is what I like to see. We're writers, building the stories of our characters. If someone calls one of my characters a bitch, I'm going to be all "Well she's not", but I won't take it personally.

But the player I'm talking about, she took EVERYTHING personally, and would let in game events drive her to spreading rumors OOC, reporting people for no reason, and harassing others. That just -shouldn't- happen, really. I'm surprised I stuck around for it, but I did since I had nothing else to do with my time, and I must be crazy. But I don't regret it, I met some great characters in game, and I've grown attached to the game once more. At least in some cases...
