Drama queens - normally I don't run into them but recently I saw three in one day. And earlier one on the radio with a bunch of people playing along, and probably even more people hoping they could afford to turn off the radio. In this post when I say "you", it means a character whose player recognized a behavioral pattern. If you're injured, get help and then shut up. If you don't want help, kill yourself in a private location. If you want to make sure the body is found, you can step outside for the final hit and rp some while in near death state, but don't prolong it. If you allow someone to revive you, let it change your life, or if you're going to be self-harming for the rest of your life, do it in private. Very few people irl self harm in front of other people, and usually try to cover up the evidence afterwards, or if you need someone to stitch up the wounds or bandage them, ask a person you can trust in private, don't just engage the whole community in it because most people don't care and rather wish you would go away or die. Players may feel obliged to have their characters act sympathetic because they don't want them to seem like jerks, but I bet many players are thinking OOC: Not this again, this has been seen a million times before and you're doing it because you're an attention whore. There's a difference between a character reacting to a traumatic event and later getting over it, and a character whose whole life is full of drama.

*bows to Seko*

Here is what I said earlier today: "Really, this (attitude/behaviour) is just so old, it's eye-wateringly boring."

That's all I want to add to add to such an insightful post (as the player of a reformed drama queen).

I know, or used to know of one character that has been labeled drama queen quite often in game. To their defense if you are in the same town with them, it is RP'd very well by the entire town. It may come off overly dramatic on the radio but they carry it out very well even when not on the radio. It's a bit much for me and my playing style so I left "years ago" but still respect the town and the players will to play how they choose and as a group/town they do a fine job with it.

Unfortunately there are countless of them out there, and not all very well played, or well received either; although the population of the Drama Llama's (as some people call the type) seems to have gone down a little recently.

Oh yes lol. I certainly didnt mean to defend the drama llamas in general just one that I think has been unfairly attacked on the radio a few times. There are some horrible drama queens I've seen. Some just seem to border on troll status in game, all they want to do is disrupt anything going on. :(

The Herd Leader was sent packing. A lot of Drama Llama's went into a coma all at once. ;)

If you're talking about who I think you're talking about, I think she made the game more interesting.

Seko, your last two posts in this thread are completely contradictory.

After your spot on complaint about all the drama queens, Seko, this is a very interesting (and contradictory) comment. I don't think anything was added to the game, apart from more of the same old bs. *yawns*

I don't know, some drama just seems different from others. For example, when a while back there was someone whining on the radio, I felt OOCly that it was bullshit, but since my character had no previous experience of this sort of phenomenon, she decided to help because it was according to her character, and when I actually got to talking to the "damsel in distress" in person, it was actually quite entertaining. Partially I thought OOC that some of the stuff was made up, but my character bought everything that was being said.

I can't say that I enjoyed at all those now comatose little drama starlettes and even tended to avoid any rp with them when it was possible, but still I don't think she was the biggest dramawhore. Matter of tastes, but I find others way more annoying.

I've noticed that I had become less and less patient with certain persistent behavorial patterns that seem to depend more on the player than on the character, that or the player(s) play all their characters the same, to the point that the last time one of my characters was stucked in a situation with one of those emotional blackmailers the only thing I was able to post, as a player, was in the line of "so you're threatening -again- to kill yourself if I leave you? Here, have my knife: it's sharper". Which doesn't speak wonders of my rp abilities (or more precisely lack of them) as of late. Speaking of "things that annoy you about your own roleplaying"...

Sure, not all dramas are in the same way and some are even interesting when played with depth and diversity. I too have/had some dramatic or depressed characters with several moods. At one side that certain player really made game interesting and I admit I do miss some chars she created with her other personas. Sadness and seeking attention is a part of human nature , so I am not totally against it in game. Just I don't like when a portal is used for fooling others and getting benefit of their emotions.
