A MILLION. FREAKING. TIMES. Is it really so hard to provide some roleplay or closure before just dropping that on everyone? And it just happened to my character's friend too and it was so screwed up I had to walk away from the game because I was gonna cry... that's just not fair... he just died and left some very vulnerable people all alone in town to fend for themselves, and for no reason at all... no closure, no roleplay, no IC or OOC explanation that would have taken 30 seconds to type out.. just gone...

If you really need to cut back and know you'll be IC guilted into not dying, then sudden is the only option.

And that is exactly how it goes with me. I love this game and the characters in it so very much it would just make it impossible for me to actually stop playing, even though I -must-.

So is it really so hard? Yes, it REALLY is. It's that hard. People shouldn't -have- to explain themselves, and out of character you shouldn't be the one needing closure - your characters should, and people around the dying don't usually get explanations as to why in any case. I get that it can be a bit upsetting, but you need to remember that very active, long-time players don't quit unless there's a very good reason. A real life reason.

This is exactly the problem. Even thieves have it so bad, you steal something no body even wants, and they'll chase after you and kill you/lock you up for all eternity.

As for killing, I think it's best to play an evil character that just tortures their victims, getting them to NDS, then back down, healing them. This can lead to all sorts of issues like Stockholm syndrome, which I'd love to see in game. I'd love to play a relationship where a victim fell for her capture in a dark, twisted and destructive love. It may not even be love, just the victim starving for comfort and finding it in the one person they should despise.

And wouldn't even mind SOME of my characters getting murdered, as long as it was rped very well, not just some blank noobs running in, killing my character without even a single text log. >:C

People talk about this so much, but I've never come across it beside for two randoms who never stood a chance, attacking my characters with nothing but a bone weapon. One had a sword, but she didn't rp at all, just attacked everyone till we killed her. -.-

I just want more evil in the world man! *sobs and flails around*

None of my chars are goody-two-shoes(es?), yet few, without something happening to them, could become evil. I was wondering, and the reason why, at least for my current set of chars, is because I tend to generate abrasive jerks who have good(ish) hearts, rather than devious manipulators who are kind on the outside, and I think why is that the RP benefits are more immediate.

One of my old pirates had a victim who did that. It was interesting and fun until the player had to unsub for whatever reason (can't remember). He is one of the few characters I really miss.

I guess I've been very lucky then, because I don't find that so uncommon in game. My characters tend to find themselves in dark, complicated scenarios more often than into happily-ever-after mind numbing situations.

One of my ever favourite characters was stucked in that kind of situation; dependant of her torturer at first to survive, then developing into a very fun to rp, dark, sick relationship where the tables turned and she was the emotionally stronger who played mind games with the physically stronger "psycho". We both knew it was going to be a short life for those characters (about 10 IG years, if I remember right) but each interaction was really, really fun to play. Again, I've been fortunate enough to meet some truly awesome rp'ers and that character was played by a really amazing woman who I still bother to come back to the green world periodically, because she is simply incredible.

I have had one char who fell for a pirate and she was a town guard in those days. Lately I like only twisted evil chars. Once it was nice to rp with criminals, also making plans to catch them . Some of my chars have been in such gangs too . But after the big massacre we had in Cantr world I have no symphaty left for the murderers.

I play while half asleep far too much lately... The other day I was making so many travel errors - wrong roads, just missing the tick, forgetting to get back on a project after returning to a vehicle or forgetting to keep an eye on the fuel consumption so I had an idea how much would be used on the return journey... Blaaah

I believe it is third or fourth time I think about something concerning my chars and it happens . Then I find out they didn't want that at all. Seems like I must leave them to their own ways. :?

I recently had a character in this very setting and have known of others who did as well. So, I think it's more common than thought, but perhaps kept very quiet, or at least it was in my character's case. I don't imagine it's something either the captor or captive advertises and I think maybe captivity used to be more common than it is now. Again, though, very recent so not altogether non-existent within the current player/character base.

My characters have met several very dark characters. Mine tend to stay away from the big, noisy cities and I would think most darker characters might too, so maybe that's something.
