When you are about to cry cause a friend of your char died... And at the same time you are laughing like crazy because of another char...

Pay attention to me or I am going to hold my breath until I turn blue and die!

Do it. I dare ya. This mentality makes me laugh. I especially adore the ones who mutilate themselves and then expect the world to give a damn.

Yeah, I hate it when they want to go out with a bang but haven't really done any nice RP while they were living their regular lives.

This. However what you omitted to mention is the following attitude: "I need/want your attention, but I'll just be rude, demanding and bitchy, all the while expecting you to bend over backwards for me."

I don't know what irritates me more... Manipulative attention seekers, or those who so readily wrap themselves around the former's pinkie.

These seen to have died off, or maybe I have been lucky in where my characters are at currently. There area couple exceptions of course, but are rather insignificant.

One of mine saw that type and thought "Oh yay, a game!" and attempted to take his turn at cutting the other character. It was frowned upon :(

I dislike how often a full day of roleplay gets wiped away by 30 minutes of hyperactive talking. I'm unsure which party to blame: the one that's roleplaying or the one that's neglecting to at least CTRL+F their name (or use an event filter to sort out whispers). In the end I'd like everyone to be happy, but I can't think of a solution. Hence this post to share my annoyance.

I never played outside in busy towns (I play in several now), always preferring to hide my characters inside houses, so this is a new experience for me. I'm sure I'll figure out ways to deal with it.

Visiting Zuzi and honestly I just ignore most of the characters. They must be great for people who know them but for me it's just irrelevant. Also it seems like (exaggeratedly) half the talking is in Spanish.

I like when there's different languages going on, even if my characters don't, like one in another town is annoyed at everyone speaking Polish and he's lonely, but to me it's a great opportunity for him to learn Polish without even wanting to =P and my Zuzi character loves hearing Spanish, he thinks it sounds prettier than English, most of mine do but so do I, I wish I knew Spanish better myself.. I live right next to Mexico and I still need help speaking it. I can understand what people are talking about when I read and hear it though, even though I can't speak it, isn't that weird?

The only other language I've seen is the Dutch, but one of my characters had to arrest a thief in the Naron area, and he spoke no language I've ever seen in Cantr, nor could I translate in any translator, I think he was making it up to mess with us OOC so my character just left him in jail, it was super annoying, he then suddenly knew Dutch also, and then the player started telling me OOC to just translate it and I said I do but my character can't know it, he doesn't speak Dutch or made up languages.. but he refused to emote anything or make an effort to communicate, it was pretty disappointing. Also he kept turning the vehicle, but not just around the way we came, but several times back and forth within a minute just to mess with us, and then he changed the speed taking the advantage that it doesn't give an event, it stressed me out a lot because the only way to get my character home was to stay awake all night and wait for every single travel tick to turn the vehicle back at the last minute and make sure he didn't mess with it. And I should have reported him, I think that was definitely considered OOC spamming..

It annoys me to see other languages, especially in places where mine live and it is English... But I'm sure they feel the same way seeing all the English. And many of them do try really hard to speak English. And it's more than I can say for myself, besides one character who picked up a dictionary and was using it for the phrases in it but she couldn't say anything that wasn't in the book, so communicating was still difficult.

With one of my first characters, I don't have much of a choice, he was driven from his Engish town and thinks English people are evil and now lives with the Polish, but he has a terrible stutter, it's embarrassing trying to speak Polish and sometimes he gets made fun of =( Also he's getting so used to Polish that the times he speaks English he changes his speech patterns to something similar to Polish, leaves out words and starting to gain an accent, so now even if he does meet English people, they won't like him either because he doesn't speak English as much, and his stutter annoys people. It makes me really sad when he's in a town full of people all speaking Polish and he can understand but he can't talk to them because he's embarrassed and people put so much importance on language and speech =\ languages have never bothered me though, I just copy and paste the entire page into Google translate and read it in English so I can respond to emotes and stuff, and it doesn't bother me. To me it's no different than real life, I go to the store and listen to people speaking Spanish or Chinese, and it never bothers me, so it doesn't bother me in a game either, it's just normal and realistic to me, and it makes Cantr more interesting to me, some of my characters I plan on having learn multiple languages because that's a nice goal to have, and I think it's cool to see mixtures of cultures in Cantr and not all the same thing anyway.

And yeah it is difficult when you're starting, to have a character learn only from a dictionary, but once they have the basics down from that dictionary, it's feasible for them to learn more just by listening and interacting with those people, my characters start off using dictionaries as guides but over the years they're intent and pay a lot of attention and eventually start to pick things up naturally, which happens in real life all the time. So if I wanted to have a bilingual character and there were no people other than English, I couldn't do it because they'd only be able to learn from dictionaries and that's no fun.

Also I think it's really cute when Spanish or Polish people do speak English and they use the wrong translation or word for something, and it also makes me feel better about my own mistakes when my characters are speaking a language and use the wrong grammar or words.

I also don't mind accents, and people who talk funny, I'd be kinda bored if everyone talked the same, I like seeing people in cantr who can maintain an accent for years without fail, or baby-talk for years without being inconsistent, that's hard to do sometimes. I know people think those are annoying, but I dunno, I guess the way other people talk has never bothered me my entire life, so in a game it's even less of a big deal, and well it should be like that, I never go anywhere in real life without running into someone speaking another language so why should Cantr be different? I think it'd be really weird if the languages never mixed, and we would lose a lot of opportunity for character development, bilingual characters and world traders, and general roleplay. But that's just my opinion =) personally I find many languages more attractive than English, it's a bit crude and it's actually way harder to learn and understand for other peoples, than it is for English learners to learn those other languages because we have really weird grammatical and spelling rules other languages don't have =P

EDIT: Actually, I think I would go so far as to say, what annoys and puzzles me about cantr is how easily annoyed and puzzled people are just by someone being different =P though, it is a primitive world and it makes sense for people to be intolerant or even racist, it's just kinda sad in my opinion, but I feel the same way about real life pfft. No universe is perfect I guess

This a thousand million times. I have a couple chars that talk differently and i can relate completely. some people doesn't seem to realize that it might annoy someone else but sometimes it isn't a walk in the park for those writing it down, it does take some kind of effort, i think and I completely embrace diversity in every way, shape or form. :D

It's not about "mistakes".

Polish language is very complicated and google translate is too simple to understand that. When we are trying to translate something from Polish to English, it is ok, because we are translating from more complicated complicated to less complicated language. But when you are trying something from less complicated to more complicated... It sounds like... duh... Sometimes we simply can't understand what's going on.

I know few characters who tries to speak polish and it is ok (Ae'goloth, Grago...) Everyone knows, that they are "Zamordki" and it can be heard. And they will probably never understand why we say "Stefanie" to our male friend "Stefan" ;-)

I actually am so annoyed with landing in foreign language towns because there happen to be two English speaking people there. If I get another one the next time I spawn a character, its so going to be a character that I allow to starve.

This is the first time I've ever spawned one in a Polish town because of two English, at first I was mad because I thought, I had big plans for this guy, put a lot into his description and personality, and now he's stuck here? But then I realized, this is perfect, my character will actually fit into my plans now, because he's forced to mostly depend on himself, and then it turned out the Polish leader is kinda helpful and speaks English, even insists my character speak English because it's no trouble, and another English newspawn is active and wants to help him get off the island, so it's not as dire as I thought, aside from the animals liking him too much. I realized it's the first time I have ever spawned a character in a challenging situation, all my others spawned in kind, helpful English towns or one town away and have lived in the same area their whole lives, except for one who lives a quiet trader life, it's so boring, now I have a challenge newspawn, and rather than starve it, I'm gonna see how much more interesting he turns out than my other, coddled, goody two-shoes characters, it's boring but I just RP by myself and if the Polish join in all the better =) I'm kinda excited now to have a character in this situation, I like a good challenge, and none of mine have ever even been kidnapped or anything yet, bo-ring =P
