Every single one of my characters react to cold =P sometimes they're even annoying about it. If they're stronger, they do try to ignore it, just like people I know in real life who will sit there in December with a tank top on and INSIST they're not cold (I can't stand that, I get cold just looking at them XD ), but most of my characters get sick during winter, or I try to RP them being sick but sometimes it goes ignored. I myself am so sensitive to cold that if it's under 60 degrees Fahrenheit I start losing consciousness or having mini seizures and it's a nightmare, so my characters don't like the cold at all. I'm a little biased there. But yeah I have one character who spent the last three years making more warm clothing than there is people in her mountain because the snow NEVER stops there, even in summer, and she hates the cold and doesn't want people freezing. Also one person in that town spawned long before there was weather and he was always sensitive to the cold before there was snow or rain to make him cold, since it was a tall mountain it made sense. And I also always tended to RP reactions to the weather that I assumed an area would have, like it being hot and windy in the desert, cold in the mountains, windy near the sea, and stuff. I do see characters that don't react to cold, but not too often and usually those are ones who are just quiet in general and don't want to RP anything in the first place unless absolutely necessary. And most of my characters who are in leader positions insist on having warm clothes for new people if they have the materials, and get concerned about people who don't have sweaters and boots and stuff.

Ehehe, no. I love snow, simply because it allows for me to RP a lot when nobody else's around. Example: (bottom up, duh)

4358-5.00: You say: "*She pulls her scarf down with a bare finger and shouts to him* Put't on, also! *She yanks it up over her nose again, crosses her arms, and trips her way to the array of buildings on the other side of the yard*"
4358-5.00: You give knit wool skirt to Man.
4358-5.00: You say: "*Her gaze darts back and forth, across the snowy field. She retraces her mostly-refilled steps to stop before her yurt. She drops the skirt and slings it into the hut, hitting the man inside*"
4358-4.35: You enter Town, where you see - people, leaving The Center.
4358-4.35: You take knit wool skirt
4358-4.35: You say: "*She wraps the scarf, still on her shoulder, around her face as to cover everything but her eyes, and grabs a skirt from the pile, dragging it out with her*"
4358-4.15: You take wool scarf.
4358-4.15: You say: "*She glances about her. Something catches her eye, and she heads to a pile of clothing, from which she extricates a long woolen strip she slings absently over a shoulder*"
4358-4.15: You say: "*She jostles the door, frowning when it does not budge, and struggles with it a bit more with growing frustration, before she gives up with a scoffing sigh*"
4358-4.15: You say: "*She dusts the powdering of snow off as she ambles through the building towards the Textiles door*"
4358-4.14: You enter The Center, where you see - people, leaving the central area of Town.
4358-4.14: You say: "*She walks the few paces to where the animal was slowly, bends over to take the dagger, then heads into the well-lit Center, braced against the growing wind*"
4358-4.14: You say: "*It lands poorly in the animal, which flaps to the surface of the snow and half-flies, half-runs across it, leaving a slight bloody trail in its stumbling path*"
4358-4.14: You skillfully hurt a buzzard using a brand new steel dagger, which loses 12 strength.
4358-4.14: You say: "*She struggles to her feet, dumping snow to the ground, and dusts herself off ineffectively. She kicks a path to Person, whom she glances over, and eyes the large bird wandering near him. She rubs her right arm, then rapidly hurls a glinting steel blade at the animal*"
4358-4.02: You see a buzzard attack Person.
4358-3.35: You say: "*She places her hands in her armpits and watches the landscape quietly*"
4358-3.35: You say: "*She puts a good deal of it in a small plate that she has tossed haphazardly in the snow beside her, and blows on her fingers*"
4358-3.35: You say: "*She pushes a pile of snow off of a small metal silo and half walks in, digging through the piles of food, and reemerges with some beneath her arms. She sits in the snow against the silo and begins to slowly chew on it, comtemplating the drifting snow gradually accumulating on her cloak*"
4358-3.33: You say: "*She steps out into the falling snow, pulls her hood over her head, and half-heartedly pushes her hair into it*"

I'll admit that I ignore a lot of the weather, especially nonstop rain or when there's snow in a tropical location. But at least most of my chars wear shoes! I'm not sure why that bothers me so much considering I am not a shoe fanatic. It just puzzles me to see so many chars wearing lots of other clothing items, but barefoot.

I have one character who has a whole bunch of alternative clothing options to match the temperature, but she hasn't seen people in more than 6 (IG) years so I'm not sure why I really bother and I've another character who complained quite a bit about the temperature one winter, because he'd got used to living on a lovely sunny beach and suddenly the sea was freezing and the weather turned nasty. My other characters don't talk about about the cold much (though they both acknowledge the snow on occasion) because one experienced extreme cold while very badly dressed for it when he was fairly young so now he's got better clothes everything seems relatively pleasant, and the other is pretty stoic though he's been working on warmer clothes he just doesn't complain.

I always feel out of place when I acknowledge it and others don't.

I do that too =D I had a character build a snowman recently, because someone taught him how last winter, it was cute and once he finished making it, one person even woke up and acknowledged it and then made a snow-squirrel himself, I like it when I can get people to get up and RP even if just for a minute, but I do that a lot, play by myself for a while until someone finally wakes up, I get bored very easily and sometimes all of my characters are dark for hours so I start being random and hope I'm not being too annoying for the people who get on and have to read about my character running around all hyper. I had another character who doesn't like the cold but thought the snow was pretty so he danced with it. Weather lends a lot of possibilities to the RP sometimes, I mean in real life we joke about "talking about the weather" because we can't find something interesting to say. In Cantr "talking about the weather" can be a good way to spark up some RP =P

1) Because they can
2) Because 99% of the time, my characters don't even know what season it is (I've worn winter clothes right through summer and never even noticed).

Otherside: Hillarious, but it's my quiet ones you have to watch out for. :P

ColorMeGreen: Thank you for your praise. I do have all 15 character slots active, and so that does increase the chance of encountering some of mine. Sometimes 15 seems like too many, and some days not enough.

Ha, Some of mine have a habit of pushing your chars buttons, and they definitely don't stay quiet. BUT I will look forward to meeting the quite ones.. :D

For that reason ColorMeGreen, ours no longer work together for long. We did, when he was a young whipper snapper, but since mine have now gone off the rails they are more likely to now work for King Hyrle and his management systems, the likes of which I have no time for. (Hats off to be fair... FAIR?! You're always so fe&$ing fair! :P)

Seeing as he's going to die I can say that I witnessed what happened in Haven. Sheesh!

I have 13 and I feel the same way. I'm forcing myself to leave the other two alone until I'm desperate for a new character, since I could never kill any of mine off (even the boring ones) for a new slot if I fill them all up and want another =\ so conflicted =P I just spawned two new ones in the last month or so and I'm like "Okay now stop, two new ones is enough for now.." My first newspawns in the last RL year or so of playing in fact, it was kinda refreshing, all my characters are all settled, and this is the first time I've spawned a character who absolutely could not stay in the area he spawned and has to figure out a way out of this place, I've never had to get a newspawn out of somewhere, except one who had to walk one town over to find food after spawning, they all either stayed where they spawned, or returned there, or live a town away from or relatively close to where they spawned, only one ever had to escape his town and that was after becoming a squire and then being betrayed by his leader so he had to leave. I guess I'm boring never wanting to move my characters from their spawntowns XD but I finally have a wandering adventurer, it's exciting and challenging. My first character had it like that a little, hunting with his fist until he had enough bones for a bagh nahk (which was eventually taken from him, sadly) but then after all his scrounging in this one town this woman woke up and gave him keys like "You know you don't have to make everything, we have stuff" and he just stayed there after that.

Yeah - I was a little RL upset over it because I got so into Sherri's "battered victim" mindset that it was astounding how well I played it. It was crazy to watch too how all her friends turned on her when she started going more paranoid, but paranoia was also the natural reaction given what she went through and her personality. Looking back on it, I would have probably done a few things differently if I wanted to keep her alive - but when I decided to kill her off, it was an incredibly "freeing" mindset where I the player took control of a character that had gone off the rails. In the end, it was fun and she went out with a bang rather than a whimper.
I kind of want to send my sailng explorer over there to see what Haven is like now, but he's a long way away from there and still working to rig his boat, so it'll be a while.

I do have to laugh as I feel like none of my town leaders are "kings", but more like "business owners". I found the pay for task system used in Klojt to be very attractive to my characters when they were younger because it gave them opportunity to earn things to call their own. So two of my leader characters simply adopted similar systems for their cities, which were both very resource-rich and could offer generous rewards for labor. My leaders also like to give others the option of choosing their own priorities as well, but some folks just don't really develop their own priorities until after they earn a vehicle.

I don't feel my leaders take a lot of time, I just have to either remember to give coins or edit a note after a task I setup is completed, and keep track of who is working on my tasks, which I do with notes. That being said... I don't want more leader characters - leading kind of makes you stuck in one place most of the time, since you can't very well lead when you leave town. So my travelers are way more fun!

The ones I have in quiet towns are kind of refreshing. It's nice to be able to work on a big goal without having to deal with all the drama. The "best friends" group that you and I have characters in - he is one of my more boring characters, but also one of my favorite as well. I find that if I have a character that's boring, I just start developing some kind of quirk that challenges the social norm, wind it up and see what happens. (Sherri's quirk and the reactions to that... well.. it was spectacular!)

For me this is in part because it doesn't specify when it's cold?
Snow, blizzards, sure. But a clear day? Or a day with a breeze? Even rain can be warm.
When it snows in the mountains, is that because it's finally become warm enough to snow, or cooled off enough to snow?

Yeah, I like my quiet characters and I need to set more goals for them, like they have goals but they're unmotivated or depressed, I dunno, it's mostly 'cause I'm caught up with other characters. And I feel the same way, that group is great =) and they're not too quiet and boring but because they're hard workers they get so much done and it's really fun, all the planning and exploring.

You know, it just occurred to me that I've never seen some roleplay their character's much-larger-than-average boobs getting in the way of doing stuff.

Big boobs get in the way of stuff, people. ;) XD
