Hi! I'm gathering info about FTO, things like what materials are stronger for making weapons or armour, what tools you need to make certain things - like flatbread. Which healing foods heal more ect. Does anyone know any sites with nuggets of info like this? Or if you could tell me that would be great!

Woo, so we got into situation, when people register on cantr forum to ask about FTO? :D
Moonflame: unfortunately I can't answer your question. But anyway welcome on forum! Are you playing cantr too? Or you found our forum while looking for FTO info?

Question: if I'm in the line, can I ask for next character? So I wouldn't wait next year for a second character (only half of it).

I found Cantr through the FTO forums. Here was my experience:

FTO: Waited 2 months just to get my first character. Didn't know what I was doing, no tutorial, no wiki, no notes to teach me the lore and legend of my village. FTO was a thoroughly frustrating experience for me, having never played a game like it before. After about 2 months, I killed my 7 year old child character off because I just wasn't enjoying FTO anywhere near as well as Cantr, and felt I didn't have time for both.

Cantr: Signed up, had 2 characters on the first day. Got to spawn 13 characters over the next two weeks. Still going strong a year later. For me, Cantr was a far better game with a far smaller learning curve.

I hope you'll consider playing Cantr while waiting for info about FTO.

You can only be in the queue once. You have to wait for your char to be born then rejoin the queue with your next char. Yes, it sucks.

Edit: Hey! I'm 54 in queue. This makes me want to set my char gender to female and just have her travel around and crank out babies.

FTO's facebook page said that many locations have too many women and not enough males to impregnate them. I wonder if they have a female majority overall because everyone thinks they can change things by giving birth.

Out here we have too many males in the same location but not enough females to give birth. Its a special occasion if a female one borns into the community.
Out of my and my characters mate's offspring only 1 has survived to adulthood. Ironic, since we have all the food and clothing here that they would need. They just slept off.

The last char I had born into FTO was a male, and was born with a brother. The parents were like "Greeaaat, two more boys. *sigh*" I think there were only two females in that colony.

I can totally see why some places would be flooded with females from players thinking that they can help the situation. Guess I wasn't the only one with that idea! The birth queue is a major drawback to that game. I don't see how anyone could think that was a good strategy. The argument that when there was a larger player base there were more pregnancies doesn't matter. The more people playing meant more people in the queue so it still took months before you could actually start playing.

They should implement an option for being born as what ever is the minority in the birth location. Of course Lumin doesn't read this forum so saying this is pointless.

Not only does he not read it, he also doesn't give a crap what anyone has to say about his game. In fact, offering suggestions only seems to piss him off.

I'd like a hybrid system where you could enter the birth queue or spawn immediately. I'm not saying that as a suggestion for Cantr; I like it the way it is. Hypothetically, I think a hybrid system like that would actually keep the birth queue reasonable and allow you to play immediately. People who want to play out the child role or parent role will have that option but it wouldn't be mandatory. Could also (if people bothered) present some interesting in-game cultural situations. You'd have the natives that were born into the society and the spawners who just appeared as adults.

You know, just my two cents, when people have to come to the Cantr forums to find out info about FTO then there's not enough information being put forth by the creator, that's a shame.

So after months of waiting, I finally had a character born into the world of FTO.. though it's extremely confusing and there's literally no information anywhere that I can find to help.. thinking of just letting the character I had spawn, die and leave it. *shakes head*
Oh look, another glorious morning… makes me SICK!

You could ask the parents OOC. You can still get words out if you put it between emote signs. It's pretty simple being a baby, if it's not a psychotic community. Cry when you're hungry, cry when you need diaper changed, maybe add stink if that doesn't work. Put on the clothes that are given to you. I think you can forage from the beginning, so do that to help the community. You can't cook until you get older, so you need to rely on the others to do that. Once you get to 1 year old, you can start talking (I think) and starting your own projects. And I think you can travel at 5.

As I recall FTO forums, trading characters in FTO was legal? If that is still true, then I could try playing if you don't want your char.

At least people seemed to be doing it judging by the Facebook page.

I totally agree with what you're saying. Everything I've heard about the FTO creator says that he/she doesn't really want to bother doing much for FTO. And the waiting is a long time.

But I still play because I enjoy that I'm born into a family. It gives a different feel to the game which is why I play both Cantr and FTO. I wish I had made less characters on Cantr because I'm struggling to keep 10 active but I don't want to let any of them go! I'll just stick with one character on FTO because each society has a new little learning curve.

On the male:female ratios, I wouldn't be surprised if more females are about because more players are female and decide to create their first character as their own gender. Our tribe in FTO only has 1 male of mating age at the moment, but the new generation of children are about equal males:females.
