Dragging depends more upon fighting skill than strength, but yes... if you drag around people a lot, you get that reputation.

Re: Character naming issues
I like coming up with last names by the way. Technically your character has been alive for 20 years so I don't really mind giving them a last name.
It adds some more contrast. Like you can use the first name for most stuff and the last name when you want to emphasize something.
I like it when other characters have surnames too.
Misterrrrrr... Anderson.

Re: Character naming issues
I'm not really sure which kind of naming we're talking about here, so I'll talk about both.
-=-=-=-=-
Only three of my characters were named arbitrarily.
One I picked because I liked the name and nothing else.
Another one was a coin toss.
The other one was... I don't even know.
They're all dead now. lol
-=-=-=-=-
I used to have this really complex serial number kind of system when naming a bunch of women/men in their twenties with no description or defining features. I forgot what it was but I think it included gender, day first seen, island first seen, town name first seen, and either a skill characteristic or a number if there was absolutely nothing else distinguishing them from another character. So like...
F203285FuScbHntXFarm01
For a woman in her twenties in Scarab Haunt on Fu who is an expert farmer that I first remember seeing on day 3285. If there was another woman who fit the same description, the last number on her name would be 02 instead of 01.
Or something like that. lol
I went back to a system like "man with indigo eyes" or "expert farmer woman with corset"
People with unisex or odd names get parentheses with their gender in it following them.
If I know the character's name but my character doesn't (from reading emotes and such, for example), I add (ubn) to the end.
If I'm not sure of the character's name, I put a question mark.
ex:
Coventina? (f, ubn)

D: that's amazing.
What I find weird is that people come up with last names (first names, to some extent) for their own characters. Like, shouldn't the community give you a first name, and your history, either from where you were born, or what you do, give you your last name to distinguish yourself from others with that name?

Re: Character naming issues
I guess I should mention that 8 of my characters were spawned with last names. Of the 7 that were not, only 1 adopted a last name after spawning. Well, technically 2, if you count Snick, but she actually spawned with a last name. So in total 9 of my 15 characters have/had last names.

Your characters spawn at the age of 20. Surely you didn't run around nameless for 20 years.
In my opinion, it doesn't matter whether you name them from the start or not.
There's people that like naming their characters. (including me)
And there are people that prefer to discover their names or be named by the people they hang out with.
Both are fine by me. I'm just very fond of the former.

This really applies to first names, too, though. Unless you consider that Cantarians appear out of nowhere with a word for everything they see already known to them, as if by instinct, maybe it makes sense that they know the word(s) that applies to themselves, as well?

Re: Character naming issues
Good point. I've considered playing a character that has to learn their native language as much as any, but I just can't bring myself to do so. ;~;

Re: Character naming issues
My biggest struggle/fear at the moment is mistaking people's gender because their names either fit both sexes, or in my opinion only fit the opposite sex. I love it from an in-character point of view, since it adds diversity. But to prevent mistakes from a player point-of-view I have started labelling some of them as being explicitly male or female. Like "Jo (female)" or putting "Sir"/"Miss" in their names. I'd hate to accidentally make a mistake in my emotes, or worse, things my character says. My character doesn't just see a name, they can clearly see the person is female/male so that would be embarrassing.

...What's wrong with clicking the CHDESC button after typing in a name?

It's such a looooong text, clutters the screen

I use (<CANTR CHARDESC>) after every character I meet, every one =P I wanna remember how old they are, or see when their age changes, it's never gotten in my way before. I also put a queston mark after a name I'm not sure of, and a name I know but my character doesn't, goes in parenthesis. A name my character knew but then forgot goes in brackets [ ] I have some characters with memory issues.

Re: Character naming issues
I use the question marks also.
A single question mark after the listed name means that I have heard the name but never truly been introduced: [janedoe?]
I used 3 question marks if I have heard it by other means, an emote or know it by another char. It signals to me that my char does not know their name. [Johndoe???]
Some I just fill in a description [thief who ran from townA]. [dude who farts alot] [dramawhore #6]
Be well.

That's a good idea, I've never thought of that before. If I learn a name only by an emote I just don't even put their name, but I do if my character actually hears someone addressing that person by their name and if I can figure out who it is.
Commonly I give people names like "hungry" so I know which character to feed. And I also name "theif", though I should probably not use the same word for several characters..
And I always put (<CANTR CHARDESC>), and I'm very thankful for the new convenient button to do so.
